Vehicle Detail

For sale: 1965 International 1200 D 4x4. Nice, clean, straight and dry truck from the high desert of central Montana. Really a heavy duty rig with the 9 foot step side box, stout V8 and bullet proof 4 speed. Ready to work with 4wd, load rated tires, receiver hitch and brake controller. If you cant get it done with this truck, it doesn't need doing! Two older owners that really cared for it, never beat on. Rebuilt 304 V8 engine, rebuilt front and rear ends, newer brakes, brake lines, hoses, belts, tires, etc etc. The truck has had a typical western life of fishing, hunting, and camping. I recently purchased from the 2nd owner who has owned it for 17 years - he purchased it from the original owner in 1999. Truck has been in use right up till current time and not sitting fallow, runs and drives well and it's ready to go. I'll do my best to describe the truck below: Exterior: Really decent, straight and dry old rig. Very minimal rust, in this arid country of sagebrush and prickly pear cactus, we get 10 inches of total moisture per year. We just don't see major rust or rot here. 2nd owner had the truck repainted in the original color ten years ago, and the clear has lifted in several spots. I have a pic of the truck before repaint showing no damage or rust. Looks good enough for a driver/work truck as is, or repaint it for show. Typical dings from use, one on passenger rear fender and a few in roof. Only rust I can see is a few spots on fenders as shown, and heavy scale on front floor area (with a few holes on driver side) where snow from boots accumulates and moisture is held under floor mat when heater melts it. Floor mat has been removed. I'd treat the front floors with metal ready, POR-15, sealer, and forget it. Glass is good except windshield, which has a crack as shown. Inside of box has been painted with rough textured liner. Chrome is good with a few dings but no pitting. Interior: Good driver quality. Seat fabric under blanket cover is shot, but foam seems firm and not broken down. Armrests have cracks as shown. As far as function, amazingly the lights, wipers, horn, radio, heater and turn signals all work. All gauges work, which is very unusual on this vintage IH truck. Brake lights not working, haven't checked into it at all. Aftermarket radio works fine, original radio is included. Heater blower motor is noisy, but new one in the box is included. Seat belts are aftermarket but original belts are also included. Mechanical: 304 V8 has been rebuilt per 2nd owner and truck starts, runs, and drives out well. Pulls strong and 4 speed trans works fine. Positrac rear end works great. I tested the 4x4 system and transfer case works well in all gears and even 4x4 dash light still works! Truck has had recent brakes including new master cylinder and new brake lines. Also hoses, belts and tuneup. The 2nd owner had the original IH 5.57 geared front and rear ends rebuilt and fitted with 3.73 gears for better driveability. He had the brakes done at the same time. New Warn hubs were installed at that time also, but the original IH hubs are included. I tested it at highway speeds, and while the speedo is off, it rolls down the highway comfortably. If you've spent any time in these old trucks, you know this is a very big deal. A lot of these low geared old rigs on Ebay now top out at 45mph and are not suitable for modern interstate speeds and traffic. This truck, with it's radial tires and decent gear, is capable. Very well maintained over the years and whatever the truck needed, it got. Tires are 6 year old Hankook 7.50 -16 Radial tube type heavy duty 14 ply "G" rated with decent tread, and cost well over $1000. I plan on getting the truck out and doing some more driving in it, will update auction with more info. There was an engine oil leak I noticed when I first got it, traced it back to the driver side valve cover, changed out gaskets on both sides and seems to have cured it. Under the valve covers inside the engine is clean as a pin and looks new. Like all the SV - series Internationals I've had, there is a lifter tick cold that goes away fully when the truck warms up. Pricing/Misc: Last year I saw exactly two 1200 4x4 trucks sell on Ebay, both were rusty and had sat around a long time and needed work, nowhere near as nice as this truck. Both sold for over $5k. Prices have been rising on IH trucks since the "War Wagon" Travelall sold for six figures at Barrett Jackson. Reserve on this truck is under $5k for quick sale. Low cost shipping to is available and probably less expensive than fixing an East Coast or Midwest tetanus truck. This truck runs fine but I would not recommend flying in and driving it cross country, it's an old truck and stuff happens. Cell phone coverage is not great in this part of the country, and it's a long way between towns. Montana title is clear and open with no leins. Buyer should get insurance when funds are sent. Outdoor storage is available for 30 days, after that a $100 per month fee will be charged. Keep in mind that with all cars and trucks, THEY LOOK BETTER IN PICTURES THAN IN PERSON. This is not a minty creampuff, just a driver you could do a restoration on and IT IS NOT PERFECT BY ANY MEANS. THANK YOU************** On Feb-02-16 at 17:42:00 PST, seller added the following information: Drove the truck again to work today and it ran great. Oil pressure reads on the lower side of the gauge, but I suspect sending unit or gauge, no indication actual oil pressure is low. THANKS
