Vehicle Detail
A great Mustang, ready to be driven and enjoyed today! It runs well, looks good, and the interior is in incredible shape. This Mustang was originally purchased new by my grandmother in 1966. She drove it around her hometown in Suffolk, VA and kept it in the garage. This car has always been garage kept (or briefly kept under a car cover outside) and is an original (not restored) Mustang. The vast majority of Mustangs on the market are rebuilt but this one has been preserved in its original condition. The 82K miles are original and the car has only been owned/driven by my grandmother, my parents, and myself. The engine (see pic) has been maintained and runs great, doesn't burn any oil, and has the original Mustang "growl" that made the Mustang an instant success in the mid-60's. The engine sticker (289) is the original sticker, not one of the new ones people stick on rebuilt Mustangs. The cowl was rebuilt in 2001 due to a manufacturing error that caused rain water to leak into the floorboards. It now drains correctly. During this time, the car was repainted from the original sauterne gold metallic to white (matching 1966 Mustang white). This was mainly due to the strong dislike for the original color. The paint color is the only non-original characteristic of the car but since many of the sauterne gold metallic Mustangs were repainted other colors, this does not have a serious impact on the value of the car. While there is no significant issues with the body, there are a few small spots that will need attention in the near future. See the pics. Why am I getting rid of it? I would love to keep the car in my family and enjoy it but I live in Boston and this environment would not be good for the car. It is currently being kept at my parents' home near Destin, FL and they are getting older and can't keep it for me any longer.
