Vehicle Detail
Selling at NO RESERVE my 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 351 Cleveland Shaker. It has less than 500 miles on it since it was restored at Bay City Classics in Norfolk, Virginia. The car is virtually rust free, having spent most of its life in Florida. I have the original Bill of Sale from when it was sold new in New York in 1970 which confirms that it is an original M Code Mach 1. The body buck tag is present and confirms it came with the sport slats and rear spoiler. Vintage Air air conditioning and a Custom Auto Sound stereo have been added. The vehicle is original and stock other than the aluminum radiator, MSD distributor and blaster coil. I have the records from where a full restoration was done in Florida in the mid-80s. At the time, it received new floor pans and patch panels in the lower quarters. They did a great job as the car required very little metal and/or body work prior to being repainted by Bay City. A mild cam and roller rockers appear to have been added at some point. Bay City Classics added the Vintage Air and stereo, rebuilt the front end, replaced the rear wheel bearings, installed new front seat upholstery and foam, installed new headliner, carpet and door panels, added an electric choke and made sure the vehicle was running properly. The interior is complete and everything works on this vehicle, including the clock (quartz conversion) and courtesy lights. Front and rear windows were removed for the repaint and have new seals. The rear bumper was not replaced and shows some age. The engine runs great, has loads of power and the car drives like a dream. At 70 mph, she is begging you to put your right foot down! My Mach 1 runs great and looks even better. You will be proud to take her to cruise-ins and car shows. She is in such great shape, you could use her as a daily driver. The car is currently registered and I drive it regularly. Prospective buyers are welcome to come inspect and test drive the car or to have their expert conduct a pre-purchase inspection. Winning bidder is to pay a $500 deposit at the close of the auction and to pay the balance within seven days. Vehicle can be stored inside for a reasonable period of time before pickup. It is the Buyer's responsibility to either pick the vehicle up or to arrange for shipping. You could fly in and drive the drive the car home. Again, this is a NO RESERVE auction. High bid will win the Mach 1. Thanks for looking! On Jan-18-16 at 09:51:40 PST, seller added the following information: We pulled the starter and found the following block casting codes: D0AE-J 9L28 2130. That translates to a 1970 351-4V that was cast on November 28, 1969. The DOAE-J blocks were the earlier 351Cs and were put in a range of vehicles. The date code is consistent with the production date of the car. It is nearly impossible to get any partial VIN off a 351C with the motor in the car. Bay City never pulled this engine. I tried everything today to get the VIN off the block including mirrors, cameras, video, etc. No luck. I cannot see what may or may not be there. Again, based on representations from the prior owner, I believe this is the original motor for the car and nothing I found today leads me to believe otherwise. The info on the body buck tag reads: 0F05M181239 63C T 74 3A BTRAC BL RS BTRAC = sport racing mirrors BL = sport slats RS = rear deck spoiler T = Candy Apple Red Paint 63C = Deluxe Interior 3A = Mach 1 black comfort weave seats All this is consistent with what the car is. Nothing indicates the car is anything other than what it is represented to be.On Jan-18-16 at 11:10:12 PST, seller added the following information: I also have the dual points distributor , the AM radio and the styled steel wheels that came off the car. All appear to be original. Wheels are not in great shape, have some pitting, but do have the ford logo stamped on the inside of the rim. Radio does work, but is has static. They will go with sale if the Buyer wants them. I had a question about the shaker. The casting number on it is C9ZF-9B624.On Jan-19-16 at 08:13:08 PST, seller added the following information: I do have a photo of the block casting numbers if anyone wants them. I am at my limit of photos on the listing so I can't post it here.
