Vehicle Detail

Offered for sale sadly is a vintage 1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, in black & wood grain with the classic tan leather interior. This has been a project/daily driver down at the lake for the past year, and I used it to launch the boat weekly. I have made a trip from Kingston, OK to Yukon, OK. ~ 2 times a month and have put around 5000 miles on it in 2015. I have been relocated 2200 miles away and cannot bring it with me so my loss is someone else gain. It is parked at a friends business in Yukon OK. 73099 and can be seen there by potential buyers or inspectors. It is readily accessible to many auto transport companies. more description follows Wiki info. >>> These Next 3 informational paragraphs are from Wikipedia <<< The Jeep Wagoneer is the first luxury 4x4, sold and produced through numerous marques from 1963 to 1991.[4] A "sport utility vehicle" (SUV) for decades before the term was even coined, the 4WD Wagoneer saw only minor mechanical changes during its 28-year plus production run, the third longest in U.S. automotive history.[5] The 1987–1991 model years are considered the "best of the breed" and named Grand Wagoneer, due to a number of upgrades. These include upgraded wood siding and modernized aluminum wheels that lost their gold colored inlays in favor of gunmetal grey metallic. All exterior colors were now applied in a two-stage base-clearcoat system. Finally, a number of further improvements were made for the 1989–1991 model year series including a quality replacement for the earlier, leak-prone air conditioning compressor, the addition of the visually identifiable rear wiper assembly, as well as a general improvement in fit and finish. An interior overhead console, taken from Chrysler's popular new minivan's, was also added. This functional console featured much brighter map lights, an outside temperature sensor and compass, and an infrared remote-controlled key-less entry system. The Air Conditioner was changed over to R134 this summer and works great, my portable temp gauge reads <50 degrees at the vents. I have measured 13-14 MPG when driving on the hwy. The interior is in fairly descent condition, just in need of a good cleaning. These jeeps have a classic issue with tears in the front seat leather. This one has only a slight tear on the driver’s side, on the right edge near the seatbelt buckle. The passenger seat has the classic tear in the front lower leather as can be seen. The dash only has a small repairable crack on the left that I can remember, maybe a scuff in the middle where someone mounted a GPS? This Wagoneer has many under the hood new parts, all installed in 2014 by a professional garage; carburetor, distributor, distributor cap, ignition wires, spark plugs, PCV, Fuel sending unit, Triton wiper blades, sending units- (temp&water), cruise control cable, fuel/vacuum lines, radiator hose, accelerator pump, hood release cable, Air filter/Edelbrock air filter housing, fuel filter, oil filler cap, all 3 drive belts, Power steering pump, fresh brake and power steering fluid. The reason for all of these parts was a bit of a blaze from an old fuel line rupturing when we first got the jeep. (it was at the mechanics for a tune up when this accident happened.) This left a scorched paint spot on the hood, but the metal is in good shape. You can see it in the last picture parked next to the boat. There seems to be a small bit of an oil leak and I think it is coming from the valve cover gaskets, they likely need replaced after 25 years anyway. Hey it is a daily driver but it is also a project Grand Wagoneer with a lot of the hard work already done. The above mentioned work was $2300 including parts and labor, the new carburetor was $460 alone! I have the mechanics invoice and CC payment receipts as provenance. Initially my little brother and a friend of his went together on this Wagoneer as a project, they are both from S. Texas but it quickly turned into joint marital problems after the $ episode at the mechanics, so they convinced me I needed it. . . and I did! Everyone deserves a Wagoneer once in a lifetime. I drove it up to my lake cabin on Lake Texoma in Oklahoma where I have had it for a year. So the above is the bad news in my mind. I try to be honest when I buy/sell here as you can see my positive feedback is 100%. Following are my other observations about this Wagoneer that need attention at some time or another. The oil pressure sending unit is sporadic and you just never know when it’s going to work, but there is good oil pressure! The overhead console has a pair of lights extending over the back seats that come on but the front section lights do not work, this includes the compass and outside temperature readout. I have not pursued the why, but suspect it could be somewhere between a fuse to a bad connection. The overhead also has the sensor for the key less entry but we did not receive the units when the Jeep was purchased, these can be bought at Auto Zone for ~$100. I installed a set in my last project Wagoneer, which was a 1983. The final interior observation is the tailgate window does not articulate. There is a dash switch and a key switch on the gate so being as neither are actuating the window mechanism I suspect the problem is a lack of power to the motor. I have experienced mashed wires where the gate closes, on my previous Wagoners with this issue, but I just never quite got around to sorting it out. It’s a project, not a negative. OK, so the exterior is in pretty good shape for a Wagoneer of this year. The body is basically straight, the wood grain vinyl is weathered as can be seen, just like about 95% of the species. The driver’s door has a dinged spot below the door handle that looks like someone hit it with a soccer ball,( or a head), You can see the scuff in the photos. There is light surface rust on the frame but nothing scary, weekend wire brush and paint. The pan that protects the fuel tank from rocks and road debris has a scuffed area on it too. The body paint is black and is OK, It may just need a good buffing and polish but there is definitely crazing in the clear coat. There is no known rust on any of the body parts. Now that is all of the gremlins I know of and not bad for a 25 year old classic! The drive train is in good shape. It rolls down the road just fine. The fluid and gaskets on the DANA differentials have been changed to synthetic in the past 2 years. I drained serviced and refilled the Transmission and transfer case with the factory recommended ATF. The 4 wheel drive works, and was tested in 2014. The vacuum lines that control the locking front diff. have not been replaced yet and are not connected to a source so they will need to be sorted out prior to hitting the mud. A Saturday project running 3 rubber vacuum lines that was just never a priority. The Wagoneer is a great tow vehicle and comes equipped with a 2” receiver hitch and 3 power receptacles’ including the modern big round slot. I pulled the boat up a step ramp with ease. All 4 of the JEEP hub bullets are there, (one is in back w/ the spare tire), and it has better than Good, 2 year old Toyo AT tires with 3/4 tread life, (5-10k total miles of wear). The classic slotted Aluminum wheels are on the ground and a new Michelin on a standard steel rim is in the back compartment. I removed the Grand Wagoneer badging but it is wrapped up and locked in the glove compartment. NOS and new replacement parts for these Wagoneers are plentiful around the USA and the prices are reasonable too. OK happy bidding, remember the RESERVE is very low! also I might be able to get a few more pictures, but the pictures I took for this ad crashed with my cell phone and I gathered these from my laptop.
