Vehicle Detail
THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION. I EXPECT THIS CAR WILL BE SOLD OVER THE NEXT THREE DAYS BEFORE IT GOES BACK INTO WINTER STORAGE UNTIL SPRING 2016. BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO BID, PLEASE READ THIS LISTING IN ITS ENTIRETY.INTRODUCTION AND DESCRIPTION You are viewing my 1976 Lincoln Mark IV, finished in "Dark Jade Green Metallic" (code "46"), with the optional "Jade Luxury Group" (Roof code "LR" - Landau, Jade Normande Grain, and Interior code "DR" - Jade Leather). I am the second owner of this Mark IV, having purchased it in 2003 from the original owner, and it has just over 58,000 miles which I believe to be original (I cannot confirm this). The Dark Jade/Light Jade Luxury group option was new for 1976, so as such it was one-year-only option (see photo 11 from the 1976 Mark IV brochure) on the Mark IV, recalling that in 1977 it became the Mark V. Like all Lincoln Mark IV’s of this era, it has the 460-4V (7.5L) V8 engine (code "A" in VIN) and the C6 three-speed automatic transmission (code "U") and conventional 2.75:1 ratio 9-inch rear end (Code "2"), A deluxe Marti ® Report shows that of the 56,110 Mark IV's built in 1976, only 2,477 cars had Jade Luxury Group option, and 887 of those cars had the "Triple" Dark Jade treatment like this one (i.e, vinyl roof, body color, and interior), plus the original owner opted for the Dark Jade premium body side moldings. This Mark was ordered in May 1976 and delivered at Bob DeLancey Lincoln-Mercury in Pittsburgh PA in June 1976.Notable standard features (working fine unless otherwise noted) are four-wheel power disc brakes, power steering, power windows, power seats (sluggish forward/back motion), automatic temperature control AC system (intact but not blowing cold), cut-pile carpeting, remote driver mirror, chrome rocker moldings, advanced sound-quieting materials, carpeted trunk, and additional dash panel instrumentation (clock does not function). Optional features (working fine unless otherwise noted) on this Lincoln are the deep-dish aluminum wheels (including spare wheel), cruise control, power locks (do not operate), rear window defroster (condition not known), tilt steering column, appearance group, interval wipers, power antenna (sluggish), and remote right hand mirror. The AM/FM Stereo radio is the one ordered from the factory per the build report (this was one of the four optional radios offered in 1976).This Mark IV runs and drives very well. The tires are an older vintage 235/75-15 Firestone radials with excellent tread remaining but should be replaced soon. The seats only have superficial age-related wear, The dash, door panels, and headliner are also in very good condition, except the door strap handles' leather is splitting. The vehicle was refinished 20 years ago and still looks pretty good (there are minor discolorations on close inspection from bird droppings). All body panels, frame, and floors are original and rust-free. The vinyl roof is original and in very good condition (See picture 10). The headlight doors operate very well and stay closed for several days (yes, one headlight needs replacement and will be done before sale) indicating good vacuum. The chrome external trim is intact but there are minor imperfections (dings, scratches, other "patina", etc.) consistent with the age and actual usage. There are aftermarket attachments to each door, with the initials of the previous owner, that cannot be removed without damage to the paint.I hope this Lincoln Mark IV finds a good home with an owner who appreciates it for what it really is.. a striking example of American luxury automotive history that was soon to end. All the big, long, personal luxury Mark coupes would be gone by 1980 and never to return. Hopefully someone will get it and preserve it for many more years to come. AUCTION SUCCESS CONSIDERATIONSThis is a NO RESERVE AUCTION. Use any bid strategy you want, but "kamikaze bidding" (bidding at the last minute) might not be successful as this car is being locally marketed heavily this coming weekend due to the exceptionally nice weather here in the Great Lakes region. It could be sold at ANY MOMENT as a result.Note that I reserve the right to end this auction EARLY at my sole discretion...but there are rules for this that you should review if not familiar. Briefly, IF there are bids, and it is more than 12 hours before the auction ends, ALL bids will be canceled. Alternatively, IF there are bids, and it is less than 12 hours before the auction ends, I have to sell to the highest bidder at the time. So, 60 hours (Sunday morning, December 13, 9:30 am EST in the United States) after this auction starts is a key point in time. IF NOT SOLD LOCALLY beforehand, AFTER that point this car WILL BE SOLD here on Ebay to the highest bidder, at the time, or at anytime between then and the scheduled end of the listing at 9:30 pm EST in the United States. Please BE SURE BEFORE YOU BID that you have done whatever you need to do to STAND BEHIND the actual bid(s) YOU MADE and were recorded during the auction. BIDDER ELIGIBILITYBidders with less than 10 (ten) feedback ratings may, at my discretion have their bids canceled (I may or may not try to contact you before canceling your bid) and then blocked from further bidding on this auction unless they contact me in advance of bidding. Bidders who make and then cancel their bid(s) will also be blocked from further bidding on this auction.Bidders outside the continental United States are welcome to bid but also must email me before bidding to discuss important payment and shipping procedures. If you have bid on and won any of my items in the past and then did not honor your bid(s), if you have made and then canceled a bid that met a reserve, or if you have agreed with me on price after the auction ended but then vanished without any communication, you are not eligible to bid. INSPECTION AND WARRANTY INFORMATIONPlease ask any questions that you may have that may not have been answered by this detailed listing narrative and visual media attachments. My listings are constructed in complete sentences in order to communicate my knowledge of important facts and to encourage independent thoughts and then any questions from interested parties. But respectfully, I do not know what is important to you that may not have been discussed or depicted herein unless you ask me. Any and all relevant and appropriate questions you submit while the auction is running will be answered promptly and as thoroughly as possible by email only to ensure clarity of any correspondences. Given that this is a used vehicle, please do not have unreasonable expectations as to its current condition or future condition under your ownership. Also given its obvious age, this vehicle represents whatever standards of quality and workmanship that existed when it was built, so comparisons to improved build standards of today's vehicles is not appropriate.Your bid forms the basis for a binding, legally enforceable contract. As such, if you require it, please make all pre-purchase inspections (at the sole expense of the bidder) before committing to purchase the vehicle. Inspections can be done by appointment only by you or your designated inspection service. Although I believe I have described and depicted (with numerous high-resolution photographs and video) this vehicle accurately, please note that this vehicle is sold "as-is, where-is” with no express or implied warranties or guarantees of any kind. PAYMENT AND STORAGEA $1,000 deposit is required from the winning bidder, due electronically via PayPal within 24 hours after the auction ends, to hold the vehicle. I will not be accepting trades. Full payment is due within 3 days of auction end via cash, bank-to-bank or wire transfer, or certified bank check (drawn on a major US bank). Clear title in my name is in hand and vehicle can be scheduled for buyer pickup by appointment at anytime after full payment is received and cleared. I can hold the vehicle in indoor storage for 15 days (or longer, if weather or other uncontrollable factors emerge) at no charge to the winning bidder after the auction (the charge is $15.00 per day after 15 days). Thank you for viewing my auction. On Dec-11-15 at 13:09:45 PST, seller added the following information: Thank you for your questions, but these few have come up a lot. YES, this is a NO RESERVE auction. "What I want for the car" is a fair price. I have an idea what it should do in a fair deal, maybe it will do that, or maybe it won't and I will still own it after this weekend. NO, I cannot tell you "what will win it". Highest bidder wins, so bid whatever you want given whatever bid strategy you are following - as long as you HONOR YOUR BID if you are on top at the end. YES, you can "make an offer". In this case, that is what your bid represents, so writing me with "offers",instead of just making whatever bid you want, may not be a good use of our time. I DON'T KNOW, if this auction will end early or not. If confused about how early endings work, please just go to the Ebay Help Section where they talk aboutthe process for ending auctions early and the obligations of buyers and sellers in that event. If I can offer any bid "advice", is IF you want this car, try to win it at whatever price you are willing - no kidding - to pay for it. This is because, with a local sale before 9:30 am December 13, all bids will be canceled and this auction will surely end early.
