Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is our family owned 1971 Ford Pinto. This is a true storage/barn find; this belonged to my uncle who had it garaged in San Francisco, for 35 years. He drove it around the City for roughly 5 years before getting into a very minor fender bender in a parking lot, where the bumper was bent (shown in pics). Following that incident, he parked the car and no longer drove it. It had been sitting under a car cover in his garage up until last year, where I moved it to my area by Sacramento, CA. It has been garaged there ever since, under a car cover. I was going to restore it, but after a year of sitting in the garage, looks like I may never get around to restoring it, and would much rather it go to a true enthusiast who would appreciate it. The car is mostly all original, I changed the ignitor (I still have the original one), the battery was changed back in the 70's, the gas cap is a Motorcraft, and I believe the antenna is aftermarket. I was told that the rest was original, even the tires. The clutch seems to be good and stiff, and the trunk still has an original spare tire. The car truly has 43K and the title is clean. Good Stuff:Car has a straight bodyPaint is original and can be waxed and shined to like new (see pics)all lights still seem to work and are originalCar engine is original, no modifications have been done, all the way down to the hose clampsEngine is not seized, it still can turn over (I was able to start it once for a couple of seconds)Interior is all original and immaculate, except for the driver seatExtremely low mileage for a 44 year old carNo rust, except for very minor surface rust, listed belowAll documentation the car came with (User manual, warranties book, and a repair manual)All weather stripping is still soft and in good conditionAll glass is original There are some blemishes:Rear bumper is bent, and a piece of the rubber on the driver side is tornDriver seat has a tear on the bottom cushionDash has a crackDriver side window crank handle is broken (Window still works perfectly)3 small surface rust spots on the passenger fenderHole in radiator due to coolant not being removed prior to long term storageMost gaskets and hoses are stiff and I would recommend replacingTires look nice, but should probably be replaced before driving carNone of the fluids were drained prior to parking, so would need to flush all fluidsSurface rust on brake lines (brakes still work)Small dings and scratches from age and use All in all, this car is a true rare survivor! Buyer to arrange for their own shipping. I will gladly work with the buyer on shipping arrangements. Car is available for showing, if local. I require full payment before car is shipped. Please read the description fully and examine the pictures above. I fully welcome any and all questions, prior to the end of the auction. All sales are final and there is no warranty. Thank you for looking. **update: I was taking some pics of the underside of the car for an interested party. I noticed that there is a hole in the muffler. I added a pic of it.
