Vehicle Detail

1971 BMW 2002 - Colorado; BBS Mahle Wheels, Sunroof I bought this car locally here in San Diego from a BMW Mechanic that had too many projects. He bought it from the shop owner as the owner of the car brought it in for repairs and never picked it up so it is a lien sale; which just means it needs to be registered. The car was running until his son removed the carb and distributor for his 2002 and left for college without telling Dad. I went to see it as he said it was running and lo and behold no carb, no distributor. Anyway, I bought a rebuilt distributor from and a new 32/36 Weber and the car now runs. Pictures were taken prior to new chrome air cleaner being installed on Carb. It is now all installed. I am posting for sale because I was just about ready to drop a chunk of money on paint/body when a 1971 2002 came available with a TI motor, sunroof and BBS wheels that did not need paint or body work. The car has rust in the lower front panels, spare tire area and on the passenger and driver rocker and a nice patina on the top of the trunk, roof and hood as the pictures show (racks in one picture not included). The drivers side rear panel needs to be welded to the rear panel. Nothing significant. The interior is nice; one minor tear on the drivers side with correct vinyl sides/upholstery centers. Has the center console, dash has some cracks with a dash cover and carpet is good, headliner is a little dirty but not torn and sunroof opens and closes. The potential bonus is I brought the car to a BMW shop to install the carb/distributor and while I was there I shifted through the gears and I am pretty confident that it has a 5-speed instead of stock 4-speed. This is a desirable color car for restoration; with the sunroof and BBS wheels it will be gorgeous when complete. Things that I am aware of that you should know: If purchased in California to be registered in California there are $165 in back fees that will also need to be paid on top of removing from PNO which will incur another $175 to register plus sales tax. See screen shot from the California DMV system. Car starts right up and run well; it will move but it appears as if the clutch disc might be stuck to the clutch plate as it wont un-engage.There is some noise from the timing chain; could just need to be run more so it seats better; could need to be replaced. While I have a shop going through it so it isn't just a complete guessing game on what it needs; The car is 44 years old.The car is currently at the shop and I will have a quote to pull engine from trans; install new clutch and replace timing chain. Price of repairs would be extra from auction price. My thought is if someone is looking at doing a complete restoration they may be planning on pulling the engine/trans anyways and therefore could complete these repairs on their own. I cannot add any additional pictures as the car is at the shop until Monday and the car can not be seen until the either. On Nov-28-15 at 16:01:29 PST, seller added the following information: Center console has been misplaced and is not a part of the auction
