Vehicle Detail
Make no mistake this is a true hot rod. Starting with the body: There is no rust anywhere on this car. Everything underneath is solid. This car has never seen rain since the 1st restoration started 15 yrs ago. I got this car 6 months ago. It had been sitting for about 6 yrs unfinished. When I got it, it had a 460 big block already built and the body was completely stripped to just a shell. It had a rack and pinion mustang 2 front end by Heidt's installed and front disk brakes. The firewall was cut out and moved back 3 inches so the drivetrain can be moved back. It also had heavy duty rear springs with a 8.8, 373 posi rear end all fabbed up with frame connectors and custom made ladder bars. Look at the pics to see the condition it was in when I got it. I put the car together from there. No expense was spared on the assembly. Motor: The motor was built and had only run on an engine stand before I got it. Starting at the top, it's fed by two 500 edelbrocks through an aluminum intake. The heads are super cobra jets by John Kassa. Look them up if you want to know about them. The motor was stroked and bored .30 over. H-beam rods. Lightweight Pistons. File to fit rings. Spiral locking piston rings. Comp cam and rockers, solid lift. The lifter surfaces are laser cut for better lubrication. All bearings and seals/gaskets were replaced. All freeze plugs replaced. Custom made 10 cort oil pan. It has a complete MSD ignition system including distributor, street fire box with rev limiter, and MSD wires. High volume oil pump. Internally balanced. Other: The fuel system starts with a fuel cell in the trunk and has a 130Gph carter fuel pump. The whole fuel system uses -10AN fitting and braided hose and has a firewall mounted regulater with gauge. I had custom handmade headers built by a local fabricator. He made slip on connectors and cut the flanges in between each port so you can replace only the gasket that blew out and to make removal easier. I've never had exhaust leak though. It has an aluminum radiator and two electric fans with adjustable fan control. I did not have to do much on the interior. Everything cleaned up perfectly. I did dynomat the whole floor and replaced the carpet. The rear seat will not flip up due to the 4 point roll cage. I also replaced the headliner. In the console I added a mechanical oil pressure gauge with copper feed line. Aftermarket temp and volt meter. The only things that work in the instrument cluster are the fuel gauge and speedo. This hot rod is using a four speed top loader wide ratio trans that was just rebuilt and shifts perfectly. The clutch is a center force dual friction and covered by a scatter shield racing bell housing. It uses a hydraulic clutch with a master cyl by Wilwood. The brake master is also by Wilwood and is all manual. Less is more under the hood. The few wires that are needed run through a pipe on the intake. It's the cleanest engine compartment you will ever see. I'm using a GM one wire alternator so that reduces clutter too. The battery is in the trunk in its own custom box. Even the brake lines run on the inside of the firewall and all the light wiring goes inside the fenders. There is even a brake line lock to lock the front brakes. It makes for really cool burn outs. The car has a legit Texas State Inspection so everything works. Horn, wipers all lights, and the parking brake. It's all good to go. Brand new tires all around The paint is about 15 yrs old but it's never seen rain and it's always been kept inside. It shines up well. It's real shiny. There are some chips in a few places from the assembly. I bought touch up paint that seems to match perfectly, but I'll let you handle that. Yes, the car is fast. Crazy fast. It can be raced or taken to dinner. It's never been dynoed but HP estimates are over 700. It has racy idle but will idle fine at 1000 rpm all day. No A/C or heat, but it could be added. I have a box of receipts and specs from the person I bought it from. I also have every receipt from me completing the car. I also have a clear, clean title. It can be viewed and test driven (I'll drive) in the evenings and on the weekend. The 1st pics are how car looks now, all done. The other pics were taken through the assembly.
