Vehicle Detail

For sale: 1975 Ford F250 4x4 "High boy", running and driving complete rig in good condition. One family owned from 1975-2015. Special ordered new by an older gentleman and then handed down to his brother and then nephew, built new in San Jose California, and it's lived it's life here in Montana. Original owner wanted Royal Maroon, which was unavailable in '75 and he had to order it. Paint code is blank on door tag. Per Marti report, one of 12 in this configuration. It's got some of the normal Hiboy rust, but not the sitting-at-the-bottom-of-a-lake rot you see on the eastern and midwest trucks. It's a decent, complete truck with the higher option Ranger XLT trim. For sale with NO RESERVE. I'll do my best to describe the truck below: Exterior: Driver quality paint that shines well as shown in the pics. Truck was repainted once in the original Maroon, appears to be only an average job but looks great from 10 feet. Casual observers will think it looks great. Serious car guys will find flaws. Rust appears to be limited to the normal area at front of sill area on both sides, and a couple of other spots at cab dropoff and front wheel wells where mud packed in and held moisture. There is a spot starting on one cab mount as shown, and small spot below each hood hinge, doesn't affect hinge integrity. I think you could simply treat these areas with Metal Ready then POR-15 and forget them. Truck had the typical rust over the rear wheels and those areas got new patch panels when the truck was painted. This part of the country is extremely arid and we just don't see major rot/cancer and frame rust is unheard of. Sand, not salt, is used on the roads and that helps too. Truck has typical dings and wear from a lifetime of use, but it's a good looking driver. Inside of box is Rhino lined and it's a quality job. Moldings have dings but no pitting. Glass is good. Passenger front fender needs adjustment, door hit it and left a dent. Grille surround has a dent as shown. Bumpers are a work of art - original owner's brother had a pro welding shop and hand crafted these with keyed compartments and did a super high quality job. SEE ADDITIONAL PICS IN LINK BELOW. Interior: Driver quality original showing some wear. Dash has a few and cracks under dashcap. Seat will need re-cover for show duty. Most everything seems to work, except radio, this truck was being driven on a regular basis. Defrost cable on the heater control came off lever, only blows on floor, I'll try to put that back on. Truck has auxiliary travel tank, both gas tanks work and I've driven it on both. Rear sliding window has a few spiderweb cracks in one pane, but I can include another good factory slider rear window. Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives well. Original 360 was rebuilt, don't have documentation and original owner couldn't recall mileage at time of rebuild. Sounds good and pulls hard, great oil pressure and no noticeable smoke or noises. 4 speed trans shifts well. Typical vintage 4x4 leaks but nothing horrible. I tested the transfer case and drove it in 4 high and 4 low and it worked fine. As mentioned, both fuel tanks work. Tires are 8 ply traction radials in expedition size 255/85/16 that have great tread, but have a few small weather cracks in the tread. You'll have to decide if you're comfortable running them. Pricing/Misc: I've watched these High boys, and it seems that it takes about $15k to get a really nice one now. These trucks appear to be going the way of the FJ40 and early Broncos. Trucks like this one are getting hard to find, that is, one that's in decent condition that blue collar guys can still afford. Low cost shipping to is available and probably less expensive than fixing an East Coast or Midwest tetanus truck. Title is clear and in previous owner's name, ready for you to sign as purchaser. If your state has a problem with open titles, I can transfer it to my name before sending. Buyer should get insurance when funds are sent. Outdoor storage is available for 30 days, after that a $100 per month fee will be charged. Link to additional pics including underside, I will add pics as my internet connection allows: http://s261.photobucket.com/user/burgundyamx/library/75F250?sort=3&page=1 GOOD LUCK! Keep in mind that with all cars and trucks, THEY LOOK BETTER IN PICTURES THAN IN PERSON. This is not a minty creampuff, just a driver you could do a restoration on and IT IS NOT PERFECT BY ANY MEANS.
