Vehicle Detail

We bought this classic 1969 Dodge A108 camper with hopes of restoring it. Several years and two kids later it's still too far down on the project list and we have to let it go. When we bought it the van ran, but now it has been sitting in our driveway for five years and won't start. We are selling it as is and want to list all issues we know about, however, we never drove it, nor have we gone down the restoration pathway. What we know: It has:-A super cool pop-up aluminum pop-up made by Freeway Traveler with windows and screens that means even a 6'3" person can stand up inside comfortably-A small kitchenette that includes a great turquoise propane range with a three burner cooktop, a small oven and a non-original mini fridge (currently not installed)-Propane and water holding capabilties - large water tank behind the drivers seat (both systems are untested)-A convertible back bench and table that folds down into a full size bed-Storage areas under the back benches-Hardware for a hammock (canvas has rotted away) that hangs in the pop-up area and makes an amazing extra single sleeping space-Fabulous original louvered windows with a few screens still intact-Original manual, keys and title To make it drivable we know at the very minimum it will need: -Tires will need air - they are old but still hold air-Drum brakes need to be replaced, brake lines need to be bled-New battery-New gas-New oil dipstick This is a truly great classic camper van. A108 campers are rare and so far we haven't found any other A108's with the Freeway Traveler pop-up. The bones are there to turn this baby back into something incredible, but this is not an easy project - it requires a full restoration. Beyond the vehicle mechanics, the camper van portion needs a lot of work to make it shine - the plywood is going, the floor is rotting and needs to be fully pulled and replaced, insulation from the walls has been partially gutted and needs to be replaced, there is rust in the front cab floor, the front windshield is cracked, and the window and door seals all need replacing. While it had been water tight, over the past year we've noticed water getting into the front cab after heavy rains. It has been tarped to minimize damage. We are also selling the van locally and can schedule times to come check it out if desired and will happily answer any questions to the best of our abilities. As we are getting ready to move we need the van towed away by Oct 28th at the very latest. We would love to see her restored by someone who has the time and energy to see the project through.
