GONNA GET MARRIED SALE!!NO ROOM IN THE NEW NEST FOR MULTIPLE COLLECTOR CARS! You are bidding on a super super nice, almost completely original 1993 Oldsmobile SCX W41 coupe in neon blue. If you are looking at this auction, you probably know all about this car and may have owned one before and regret having sold it. If you have never owned one, this is probably going to be your best chance at owning a super nice one. The complete history of the Achieva W41 equipped SCX is found below. Road and Track fell in love with this car in 92 and 93. It is fast, nimble, powerful and a total blast to drive. They are comfortable, stylish, and still very serviceable at any GM dealer/service facility. Insurance is dirt cheap if you have a good driving record and are mature. They also make great cars for a son or daughter due to the safety in its size, low maintenance cost and good gas mileage (about 25-27 no matter how you drive it). The Oldsmobile SCX is a rare car to begin with, there were only 500 of these cars manufactured in 1993. 500 cars to GM is almost unheard of when the typical production of most limited cars would run into the tens of thousands. This car is even a bit more rare in that in 1993, there were only 8 of these cars manufactured in neon blue. This is one of those most rare 8 cars. The car is for all practical purposes all original with the exception of the 17" BBS authorized wheels and Kumoh tires. The car is still in it's original paint and trim, there is no accident history or paint work, it has the original engine and transmission in it, the interior is in almost flawless/practically mint condition right down to like new factory carpet, original and matching GM floor mats in perfect condition, and not one single rip, tear or stain on any of the fabrics. This car looks brand new on the inside. The arm rest is perfect, the door panels are perfect, all the switches and buttons look new, the vinyl finish is great everywhere. It has always been a non-smokers car and it smells almost like a new car on the inside. This car is not just cleaned up, this car has basically never been dirty. It has always been enthusiast owned and well maintained. There are no aftermarket parts on this car, every part used to repair or maintain it has always been AC Delco/original GM equipment. It has it's original AM/FM factory radio, four new speakers, and the stereo sounds great. It also has an 3.5mm iPod or MP3 player interface. It's not going to win any loud contest nor is it going to shake the Earth, but it has new Pyle 3-way 4x6 speakers in the front and new Sony 4-way 6x9 speakers in the rear package shelf. It came this way from the factory. Only an 3.5mm aux connector and iPod interface has been added so you can plug in your MP3 or iPod/iPhone/iPad and play your digital music through the factory stereo. I have contact information for the two previous owners, I am the third owner. There are no signs of rust or rot through anywhere on the car except for normal surface rust on the chassis. Car has been based in Georgia since 1999. It was purchased new in Ohio. The entire underside of the car has also recently been power washed and it is squeaky clean both inside, outside, top to bottom and underneath. The engine has been completely gone through. It in the last 1,000 miles received a new cylinder head with stainless steel valves, all new guides, stem seals, head gasket of course, water pump, water pump bearing, alternator, starter, a complete tune up, all filters, new AC Delco fuel pump and fuel sender, all fluids were flushed, a new radiator, new hoses, new serpentine belt, a brake fluid and power steering fluid flush, most engine sensors replaced including coolant temp sensor, O2 sensor, oil pressure switch, throttle position sensor, front crank seal, all engine relays replaced with AC Delco parts and a long long list of other AC Delco replacement parts all of which are listed below. This engine runs very strong all the way up to and past the factory 7,000RPM red line and the engine really starts to pull its hardest and develop the most horse power and torque starting at about 5,000RPM. Note that this is a W41 engine with the factory W41 cams! This means that the engine has a natural 'lope' at idle and it revs up very quickly and pulls hard on the top end. It is NOT sluggish on the bottom end either. This was GM's fastest production car in those days and it runs like one. The idle is therefore not smooth like today's Honda or Toyota and you shouldn't expect it to be. This car boasts 190+ HP from 2 4 cylinder, 2.3 liter normally aspirated engine. Most of the turbo cars from the same decade were lucky to produce 150 to 175 HP from the same displacement. This is the same engine that Mario Andretti set the new land speed and endurance record with in the Oldsmobile Aerotech car. Over 200MPH! It loves to rev! The original transmission shifts as smooth as butter, it is the SCX exclusive T550 with special Getrag gears. The car is geared to keep the engine in it's power band and this gear set came in no other car except the Firehawk series factory racing cars, which were also Achieva SCX W41 cars. it has a new clutch, release bearing, and slave cylinder in it and it doesn't leak a drop of oil from anywhere. Good fully functional ABS brakes all the way around, new front and rear shocks and struts. All ball joints, tie rods, and other steering components are in tip top shape. The AC and heater system on this car is completely new. The compressor, condenser, evaporator, hoses, receiver drier, expansion valve, and the heater core were all replaced with OEM AC Delco factory parts. The system is charged with R12, which is what it came with from the factory, and it was charged with AC spec mineral oil in the proper ratio. It blows ice cubes, it has no leaks, fan runs on all speeds and all heat/AC modes work properly and change quickly at the turn of a knob. All the power windows, locks, and mirrors work perfectly. All the exterior lights work, emergency flashers, blinkers, hi/low beams, fog lights (drivers fog light lens is cracked unfortunately) but it is still a dealer available item. Both the front head light assemblies were replaced so they are crystal clear, no need for a polish. All the bulbs on the car were also replaced which included every dash light, all exterior lights, headlight bulbs, trunk light and under hood light. Every light works on this car. Also included in the sale is the original glove compartment set, including the owners and operators guide, all the other docs from the original set are included as well as the original Oldsmobile cover set. It is also totally mint and in perfect condition. The factory Achieva service guide is also included, this is over 500 pages and is the same documentation used at the dealership. It is for the 1993 year so any competent technician with an ODB2 tool can run complete diagnostics on this car and repair it with commonly found shop tools. But this car is already very well sorted, it frankly doesn't need any repairs at this time. This has been my daily driver for about six months. I am a professional mechanic and I bought this car to have and to hold and to finish the light restoration on while driving it around, but there is a new marital status on the horizon and I don't mind letting this mistress go in favor of something with a ring to it. The current value of this car according to recent sales of similar cars and as suggested by Oldsmobile and Quad4 forums and other collector enthusiast is $3000+. Good Southern or dry climate running examples are VERY hard to find, and units that have been in storage for years and need a complete gone through are going for $2500 and up and those are cars that might need a fender, or have un-declared engine problems. I have set the buy it now price to $2500 for a quick sale, and because the car is going to need new shoes(tires) in the near future. A new set of Kuhmo tires will set you back about $350 at TireRack.com. There is also a make-me-an-offer option on the eBay listing. Please do not waste my time or yours making an unrealistic low offer because I guarantee this car is not going to sell to you if you do. This car is a true collector car, it is in amazing condition, it drives, sounds, feels and smells almost like a new car, there is no accident history, its wearing it's factory paint and trim, she a real beauty so act fast on the fixed price buy-it-now or make a realistic offer that I'd be comfortable responding to....please. Also note that a $250 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours of auction. The deposit must be paid only by a USPS money order or in cash in person. I will be able to hold the car for up to 30 days at no additional charge but the car must be paid for within 7 days after auction close. Please note that your winning bid is not an opportunity to come look at the car and then change your mind and not complete the sale. Your winning bid is indeed a legal and binding contract. If you have any questions or doubts, please ask your questions first and before you bid to win or use the buy it now. I know everything there is to know about this car and have made every reasonable attempt to describe it very well and accurately. There are 24 pictures that were just taken, so please ask before you bid, I will respond promptly. They have been replaced with factory non-adjustable shocks and struts. The CCR parts have been NS1/NoLongerAvailable from GM for many years and there are no service facilities that can or will rebuild or repair them. They were expensive when available, and would be very expensive to duplicate today, it would not make sense to repair them. There are literally ten or more options available for an adjustable suspension if you plan to track this car. Else, it has a comfortable ride set of OEM shocks and struts that makes this car a pleasure to cruise down the hi-way or enjoy a little spirited driving as well. The 17" wheels and Eibach springs lower the car approximately 1" and give the car a lower and much more aggressive stance. The wheel diameter is the same as the factory wheel/tire combination. This car handles really well with the center of gravity being one inch lower. It also looks much better being a little lower but it is NOT so low that ground clearance is ever a problem. The original wheels are not available, I have never had them but they can be found for about $50 each if you desired. I know where several sets are right now. The cruise control is inoperative. It has a brand new stalk installed on the steering column, its not the stalk. All the wiring is in place and I have already done quite a bit of diagnostics, The servo is in place and the control unit is in place. I have not done any further diagnostics to repair it. Both the control unit and servo are still available from the dealer or as an aftermarket replacement. I believe but can not yet confirm it needs a servo. I found at least five of them at the local pull-a-part, they are $25. One small star in the windshield. It's on the passenger size, does not impact drivers visibility, is 50 state legal, and is smaller than a US dime. No attempt has been made to repair it or fill with permatex windshield which would probably be a good idea. The speedometer is not accurate at this time, but it could be. It says 90MPH when you are going 75MPH. The wrong gear is currently on the reluctor/speed sensor. The door lock key has been misplaced. The dealer will be glad to cut you a factory fresh door and trunk key for approximately $45 AFTER you have a hard copy title in your hand. They will need to see a title to the car in your name and have the vehicle VIN. The door and trunk locks on this car have never been replaced, they are original. You have the option of taking the car to a locksmith, but I think it will cost more and take considerably longer. The dealer can perform this service in 30 minutes or less. There are a few hail dents on the hood, and a small what looks like a pop dent on the roof line at the rear. It's an easy paintless dent repair fix. They are so slight they just would not show up on the pictures, I tried several times. The car has also been treated with Crystal Shield which is a body shop applied protective coating, sort of like a wax but a LOT harder. Two of the pictures show the car wet and you can see how high the water beads up on this finish. For a 20+ year old car, the finish is still in very very presentable condition. There is an original factory, perfect condition, replacement hood available for $150. It is in the teal blue color. It's close to a match, but its not neon blue. It is perfect though and if you wanted to have it paint matched to the rest of the car, it would require zero work to be ready for paint. Some of the original pin stripe has flaked off. This can be seen in the photographs. HISTORY OF THE OLDSMOBILE SCX W41 The SCX W41 coupe was introduced by Oldsmobile in 1992 and offered through 1993. It replaced the previous Cutlass Calais 442 W41 as the best handling, highest power output compact car in the Oldsmobile's lineup as well as being the last performance "W-Machine" Oldsmobile would offer. The SCX is a higher-performance version of the SC (Sports Coupe) and as such utilized the SC's deeper front bumper cover with standard fog lamps, lower body side cladding, rear bumper cover with dual exhaust tip cut-outs, as well as a unique W41-specific silver colored stripe around the lower body moldings, "W41" decals on the front fenders, and "Achieva SCX" decals at the leading edges of the doors. Other appearance changes for the SCX W41 package included the addition of a 140 mph speedometer in place of the standard 120 mph unit as well as a tachometer indicating the higher 7200 rpm red line. Performance modifications primarily differentiated the SCX from the SC models and were designed to make the SCX competitive for use in showroom stock racing series such as the IMSA Firehawk and SCCA GRAND-AM World Challenge. This included the move to smaller diameter yet wider V-rated P215/60VR-14 BF Goodrich Comp T/A tires on 14x6.5 inch cast aluminum wheels (compared to the SC's 205/55R-16 on 16x6 inch wheels) and different suspension components on the SCX-specific FX3 RPO coded suspension. The suspension changes included larger diameter direct-acting front sway bar over the base Achieva, a wider rear axle with dual rear sway bars, "Computer Command Ride" (CCR) electronically adjustable struts and shock absorbers, as well as higher spring rates and bushing changes. (A similar CCR electronic suspension was also offered as an option on the Achieva SC as well as the platform-mate Buick Skylark and works similar to the systems offered on Cadillac and Corvette models of the time.) The SCX's powertrain included the highest output naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine GM had produced up to the time, the 190-horsepower, 160 lb·ft torque W41 version of Oldsmobile's Quad 4 engine. Compared to the SC's standard high-output, 180-horsepower LGO Quad 4, the W41 version of the LGO Quad 4 was fitted with different camshafts, a low restriction exhaust system with dual mufflers and a special engine computer calibration for the ignition and fuel systems that also raised the engine's redline to 7200 rpm. This engine was complemented by a unique version of the Getrag-licensed, GM-Muncie built Getrag 282 five-speed transaxle with special second and fifth gears as well as a different final drive ratio for quicker acceleration and better gearing to keep the engine in its power band. The production numbers for the Achieva SCX in 1992 totaled 1146 cars made with (6) C41 RPO code A/C-delete racing models as follows: (1) bright red, (2) medium garnet red, (1) aqua, (1) blue, and (1) white cars. The normal C60 RPO code models included (472) bright red, (42) medium garnet red, (218) black, (196) aqua, (50) neon blue, (151) white, and (11) gray cars. The 1993 SCX production totaled 500 cars produced including (5) C41 RPO code A/C-delete racing models as follows: (1) bright red, (1) aqua, and (3) white cars. The normal C60 RPO code models included (128) black, (191) bright red, (20) medium garnet red, (73) aqua, (8) neon blue, (70) white, and (5) majestic pearl cars. The RPO code for the vehicles are located on a sticker under the carpet inside the trunk near the spare tire cover. The "W41" package will always have either "C41" or "C60" to specify non-air conditioned or air conditioning equipped cars. The C41 equipped W41 models were a special order option designed for race car builders and included a baffled fuel tank, the previously mentioned air-conditioning delete, as well as a different calibration in the computer that allowed for a higher 7400 rpm redline. The cars should also have included a Torsen, helical gear style limited slip differential which would have been delivered not installed in the trunk of the car.
