Vehicle Detail
This is a Classic 73 VW Superbeetle with steel sliding sunroof. It is the most solid original aircooled VW I have seen, that why I bought it when I was looking for a vintage Bug. It has all of its original fenders, has never been in an accident, has the original front and rear body panels which typically get beat up from parking lot barriers. It has never been undercoated, the wheel wells, bumper mounts, firewall, heater channels, sills and even the original running boards are not rusted out. Work that had been done by previous owner is: Original 1600 dual port engine was rebuilt, rear gas shocks, front steering rebuilt, front, rear and side window rubbers replaced, headliner, visors, grab straps, door panels and seats covered. From 2004 to 2010 it had only been driven 22k miles, the title says 133,000 original miles and the odometer now says 155,000 When I got it it had been sitting for 5 years so I first flushed the fuel tank and replaced all fuel lines, fuel pump, filter and cleaned the carburetor. I then removed the interior and scraped the floor. I found an area rusted through under the battery, (from battery acid, not cars environment) replaced the area with a vw patch panel so it would look original and gave it a coat of POR-15,(see pic) replaced all brake shoes, all wheel cylinders and brake hoses, repacked front bearings, installed a quality german muffler, gaskets, stainless manifold nuts and tailpipes, the heater boxes are original and in good condition, spark plugs, points. adjusted the valves (found no tight valves)and replaced the cover gaskets. You can see how clean the engine is inside under the valve covers, (see pic). It runs excellent! I washed under the fenders (see pic, that is all original paint under the fender wells!) and floors and sprayed 3m rubberized undercoating on them. It didn't need a paint job but had a few dings here and there so I decided to have the whole car painted including inside the doors, front trunk area and even the engine area. To set off the new paint job I replaced many body seals ( hood, engine lid, lic light, pedal pads, bumper brackets thru body seals etc.) The carpets were showing signs of wear so I just installed a new carpet set (it now smells like a new car!) and I had a full set of brand new radial tires installed on chrome VW rims. It has an awesome sounding Alpine CD stereo in dash. The chrome parts (all handles, headlight rings, front signals, side trim) are all like new with no pitting. The bumpers are real nice but not perfect. I put on a new pr of rear fender gravel guards. The fresh air fan works which is unusual for these cars. All the electrical items work as they should and the sunroof opens smoothly, open it up and enjoy the feeling of a convertible without spending almost double the price! It sure is an eye catcher with the shiney paint and the chrome wheels! Not a car to be taken out and used year round in the snow belt. This car deserves to be garaged winters and it will be around for another 43 years! Car is ready to go! $7,373.00 You cant buy cars in this condition for this low price, lost job, must sell!On Sep-18-15 at 07:24:21 PDT, seller added the following information: This car has a 4 speed standard transmission with a clutch. Not the troublesome "Auto stick"
