Vehicle Detail

The 1964 TR6SC is the rarest of all unit construction 650cc Triumphs, with only 60 models being made for the 1964 season. This is without question the hardest of all competition models (i.e. TT Specials) to locate an original matching numbers bike. There can only be a handful left in existence, as these were originally delivered without lights as a purpose-built desert racer for the likes of the legendary Bud Ekins to tear across the Californian deserts. What makes this even more difficult to find is it was the chosen model of Steve McQueen to enter into the 1964 ISDT as a US team member, so is now even more desirable by collectors. This bike was originally shipped from Triumph UK to Johnson Motors in Pasadena for the 1964 season, so would have been a west coast model which had no lighting equipment and had energy-transfer ignition (meaning no battery), a close ratio transmission, light-weight aluminium mud-guards, high-level exhausts on each side with leg heat-shields and a steel sump guard. It had TT cam-shafts, the larger Bonneville valves and an all black seat. The new owner has three options here; 1. Keep it in it's current condition and ride the hell out of it! 2. Restore it back to it's original factory specification and display it as the crown jewel of your Triumph collection. 3. Or finally, replicate exactly Steve McQueen's ISDT bike and display it as the crown jewel of your motorcycle collection, and ride the hell out of it! And be the envy of all your friends. This bike was restored to resemble a TT Special some years ago, with cycle parts powder-coated black, re-chromed, polished alloy, lights fitted and registered for road use. This bike runs and rides fine, but will need a new battery and fresh petrol. Hasn't been used in quite some time so will need an afternoon's tinkering. From the Johnson Motors collection, where Steve McQueen's real ISDT motorcycle resides.
