Vehicle Detail

Nice Fiat 1200 Cabriolet project car for sale. I realize that I will never have time to finish this so reluctantly my loss is your gain. Dry west Texas car was relatively rust free when I purchased it. Drives floor had been patched and engine had been disassembled. I had small amounts for rust in rockers in front of rear wheels cut out and replaced with new metal. Car was originally white but I had one of these cars before that was Fiat 451 blue and liked it so much that I had this one resprayed to match. Very complete color change, engine compartment, trunk and door jams all redone. Only white remaining is on the floors. Body is very straight with good panel gaps. Looks fantastic. Engine looks to be a later Fiat 1200 engine with the revised oil system as it has a spin on oil filter. It is complete but I was going to look for a later 1500 and 5 speed to put in it rather than go through this one.Latter Fiat 124 twincam engines will also fit in this car.Transmission is out of car. Car is loosely assembled to show what is included. Stainless trim is complete with mounting clips and dent free. Door seals are good, will need trunk seal. Missing parts at a minimum would be front and rear bumpers, grill center split, rear trunk latch, radio, one window crank, one hub cap,one head light rim and door side glass. I do have vent glass and cracked original door glass for patterns. Seats are original and frames are solid. Gas tank looks good, windshield is good, no exhaust, tires are junk but car rolls easily. Car needs to be gone through mechanically and obviously needs a new interior, but this could be a rewarding project for the right person. Last photo shows the car I had restored and sold a few years ago. It was a blast to drive, as enjoyable as the 1300 Alfa Romeos I have owned. These cars suffer from major rust issues so finding one in this shape is a big plus. Engine is free but two cylinders have water damage that will not clean up with a light hone. Looked like it was taken apart because something small got in one of the cylinders. Very minor pitting to one piston and cylinder head. Dropped the pan all internal parts look good no water damage. Block will need to be bored oversize, pistons and rings cost $300 for the set. Cylinder head is good to run as is if it is resurfaced. Front kingpins are good, steering linkage is good. Car is rock solid. If you have a rusty but running 1200 or 1500 Fiat you should not let this one get away. You will be pleased, this is a very good car. On Sep-14-15 at 10:20:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Had a request for pictures of the bottom of the car. Most of the underside has had the undercoating removed and the bare metal painted, see the added pictures this car is nice.
