Vehicle Detail
This is a true 'barn find". We purchased this car from the original owner who lived in Longview, Washington. He bought it from Sparks Motors. Used as his daily driver until he parked it in 1992. Outstanding condition for a 1967. The car is a 390-4V with C6 automatic transmission. Power steering, manual drum brakes. Options are very limited. See Marti Report. After purchasing the car on August 7th we proceeded to go through the mechanicals of the car. New fuel tank and rebuild carb, all new brake hydraulics, new plugs, points, condenser, cap, wires, radiator hoses, heater hoses, and clutch fan. Oil change and new coolant. We also replaced the heater core. The oil pan was changed due to a very large dent in the bottom of it. The pan is an original, not reproduction. The internals of the engine look good although the timing chain is a bit loose. I replaced both mufflers with some inexpensive Thrush Turbos and just put some turn downs rather than tail pipes. I figured who ever bought the car would probably replace everything with a 2.5 inch system. The car runs very well. It does smoke a little at idle due to hard valve stem seals. Transmission shifts fine. No rear end wine. Please note, this is a numbers matching car. Still has the engine tag and carb tag attached. Interior is all original. Carpet is worn in places. Steering wheel does have some cracks. Dash pad also has a crack around the speaker area. Door panels are in nice shape. Chrome bezels around instruments are surprisingly nice. AM radio works as do all interior lights. Turn signals work great with the original sequencer system. All instruments work. We did a full detail on the paint. While the pictures make it look very nice the car should be repainted. The original owner had the entire car painted in the late 70's because of a minor accident to the right rear quarter. He wanted to make sure everything matched. There are many scratches, door dings and areas in the paint with heavy orange peel, and a few dark spots. The actual sheet metal is in very good shape for it's age. The only rust is behind the rear wheels and in the front part of the drivers door. It will need some small patches. The paint around the lower corner of the rear glass has chipped away but is still solid. The floors are super clean, no rust in the fender aprons. The trunk floors have some surface rust but still very solid. The cowls are in perfect shape. Wish all the 67's I've worked on were this nice. This is a great car to drive until you are ready to restore it. An easy restoration considering some of the things we have done. You will save lots of money because the body is so nice to start with. I have a clear Washington title in my name. I am not a dealer and it is being sold as a Private Party sale.
