NASCAR !! Description of conversion done : Remove engine and C-6 from T-bird, Clean and paint engine, change oil and filter. The lower rear freeze plugs showed weeping and seepage and rust so we pulled out all of the freeze plugs and cleaned out the rust and scale from the internal cooling passages and installed new freeze plugs. Engine mounts were a huge issue as neither set of engine mounts from both cars could be used and the Cyclone/Torino require a special type of 429 engine mounts which are rare and costly. We were able to find five of the six required pieces of the engine mounts but one was impossible to fine. Using the original driver's side we were able to have a passenger side fabricated at a machine shop. They did a great job on the fabrication .We then had no exhaust system that would fit as the T-bird was not made for the Cyclone and the Cyclone was made for the 351. What we did was just enough to get by using the down tubes from the T-bird and some flex pipe and new glass pack mufflers. We also put new plugs, points and tune up kit . On the transmission, the C-6 from the 351 would not bolt to the 429 so we were forced to use the Tbird C6 trans. Not a bad thing as the t-bird C-6 is probably the much better, stronger of the two transmissions. However, the Cyclone has a floor shift and the 351 C6 was set up for the floor shift levers and the Tbird was not. We had to take apart the 351 C6 and swap the valve body into the T-bird C6 so that the floor shifter would work in the Cyclone. We needed new gaskets for this too. The gas tank in theCyclone is dirty and has some old gummy gas in it. We did not do anything with that and have the car running on a small gas can under the hood. We installed a new but used battery . The right rear wheel was locked up solid and would not turn. We had to cut the drum to get it off so that the car could roll. The car will start and run and drive . The engine sounds strong and smooth with no issues. Even the tach works! Brakes are even good on the car and stop very well once we got the left rear drum off Don't miss your chance to own this true brute muscle car. Please be ready to buy when you click.
