Took on a 1,000 mile round-trip in June 2015, ran great and averaged 30mpg. Have owned for 16 years, since 1999. However, last time driven it overheated, spilled anti-freeze and quit. From reading service manual, it appears to need a head gasket or water pump? For someone who is mechanically-minded, these may be minor problems. Won't shut off when you remove the key. Have to either kill it by popping the clutch, or sucking on a vacuum hose. Some exhaust leaks. Wipers rest in upright position, so I removed and placed them in down position. Rear carpet smells musty due to small leak into interior when it rains. Rust in usual spots. All glass is very good. Professionally re-upholstered over original upholstery (see photos). Love the diesel sound and smell! Glow plugs work normally, engine sounds great when it is running. Oil changed regularly. May need alternator? because headlights grow dim when it is driven after dark. A/C no longer works. Decent matching Goodyear tires. Fun to drive 4-speed manual transmission. Use for parts or fix up.
