Vehicle Detail
Up for sales is a nice looking 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer in pretty good shape. Relatively low mileage for its age (94k miles at 30 years old!). I bought it in Florida before driving it all the way to California! Looking to sell because I don't need a car in San Francisco, and don't want to pay for parking anymore. Also, the original radio is not installed, and a new one is. However, the original factory radio is still in a box in the back. Please read the information below, and don't hesitate to ask any questions! Note that I will not ship the car anywhere or deal with car shipping. There is also a deposit due within 3 days of the auction end. Thanks! Strengths: It still looks good, and people always stare when we drive by. This jeep was meant to cruise around California (although it certainly is right at home elsewhere). It's body is in amazingly good condition, and I don't see any rust anywhere - looks like a section of the roof has been replaced or re-painted at some point, though, because the back 2/3's of it are a slightly different shade of tan. The interior leather is also in really good shape. Weaknesses: The old jeep does have a few issues. First, there is a hole at the top of the fuel tank. If you fill it all the way to full, it will leak some gas onto the ground. It's very near the top, though, so I fill it up with about 11-12 gal of gas and it's fine. Because of this, though, I haven't attempted to pass the CA smog check. Also, as you can imagine from a 1984 V8, it's gas mileage is not great. Cruise control does not work. The power windows are a little slow. Sometimes the rear passenger side door doesn't lock when using the power locks (manually is always fine). The fake-wood vinyl panelling on the sides is peeling, and on the back is almost completely gone. Usually, it takes about 2-3 attempts to start it, although it never fails to start. There's also a small oil leak. After the car sits for a while, there is usually a small amount of oil on the ground. I keep an eye on the oil level to make sure it doesn't get too low (haven't had to top off, yet). One of the belts is sometimes squeeky. Not 100% sure if the front seatbelts work. They certainly don't lock if you yank on them, and I'm not sure if they're supposed to be like that. Finally, the rear tailgate window does not go up or down. There is a bracket and actuator for it that are broken, and I haven't been able to find them. Currently, there is a block of wood holding the window in the up position so that it doesn't get broken into. Because of this, the rear tailgate can't be used until that is fixed.
