Our buyer fell through due to some changes in his priorities so we are relisting! It also give a chance to add in some great maintenance and upgrades we left out of the first ad! If you have been looking for a beautiful, serviced, wonderful driving, FUNCTIONING Range Rover, wait no longer! This beauty has to make NO APOLOGIES, she is just stunning all around! Background:Let me begin with a little background. This truck was ordered in a BEAUTIFUL color combination of Chawton White on Walnut Leather, which looks timeless on this Rover. When this 2001 Range Rover HSE debuted it had a window sticker showing north of $68,000 (about $90k in today's money!) and was an incredibly luxurious truck. Covered in leather, creature comforts and wit its prestigious stance, it made a major statement. Even in 2015 this P38 Range Rover looks stunning! The more powerful 4.6L V8 engine was now standard in 2001. This HSE (or High Specification Edition) option package added standard navigation, upgraded stereo and more interior color choices, to the already massive list of standard equipment. Power windows, power locks, power seats, dual zone climate control, sunroof, electronically controlled air suspension, leather interior and much more were all standard fare! This white beauty lives in sunny, dry, temperate California since brand new and is rust free!!!! It was serviced by Land Rover dealers as well as very respected independent Rover shops here in CA and even while being driven very little, started often and serviced with dedication and care. Let's continue to the service! The Condition and Service: This truck has been ENTHUSIASTICALLY and PROFESSIONALLY maintained and serviced and is a high standard for Rover service! Let's start on the engine and drivetrain:This engine has great miles for the year (a low average of about 8,000 a year), 112,000 miles appear on the odometer though the truck shows as one with half of that. It was driven and enjoyed as it should be, but being owned by someone who wanted to enjoy it for decades, it was showed more than generous preemptive care. There has been A TON of scheduled and preventive maintenance performed to this truck to keep in near brand new condition. The engine is VERY healthy and has LOADS of smooth power! With even a crack of the throttle it, more than many other Rovers, feels torquey and powerful, and effortlessly pulls away! Don't feel you need to commit to buy an insanely low mile Rover in order to get a solid, worry-free truck. With proper care and a knowledgeable touch, a well serviced truck with a normal average sampling of miles will be exponentially more reliable than "well it has low miles, so I haven't done much to it" truck. The key to a happy Rover is maintenance! And a happy Rover will go and go and go happily for hundreds of thousands of miles. And this happy Rover has received LOADS of preventative maintenance. -HEAD GASKETSAs part of the preventive service schedule, this truck received BRAND NEW OEM head gaskets and OEM head bolts. This service was done within the past 500 miles as part of this truck's ongoing preventative care. THIS is the maintenance you want to see on a Rover! The truck runs COOL as can be and has never overheated. The heads were fully rebuilt with new valve stem seals, cleaned and resurfaced as part of the service and ready to go!! -LOWER ENGINE and BLOCKNo knocks, no bangs, no burning oil, A SOLID lower engine. Oil pan was dropped, cleaned, oil pickup cleaned, new oil pan gasket, new oil and filter! -UPPER ENGINEBRAND NEW valve cover gaskets, valley pan gaskets, front timing cover gasket and seals and upper intake gaskets, all resealed among a few other minor seals. These were done in order to keep with the same high regard and care. The upper and lower intakes, valve covers and front cover were thoroughly cleaned. BRAND NEW lifters! -RADIATORBRAND NEW radiator flows to keep this beauty nice and cool! The temp needle NEVER moves past 12 o'clock even with the AC on and in traffic. The proper OAT coolant is used and brand new! -WATER PUMPAs part of the overall service a brand new water pump was installed as well! Not once did this truck show a need for it, but it was done as part of the dedicated service to keep it in tip top shape and ready for the owner to go LOADS of care free miles. -THERMOSTATBRAND NEW thermostat! A piece of cheap insurance to continue to protect and maintain the Rover cooling system -IGNITIONBRAND NEW Autolite coppers (the RIGHT plugs) and NGK wires. -BELTNewer serpentine belt! -AIR FILTERNewer air filter! -EMERGENCY BRAKERecently adjusted and tight, only a couple notches on the handle holds the truck tight -TRANSMISSIONThe trans was just given all new fluid and shifts great! -DIFFERENTIALSNew gear oil in the diffs! BRAND NEW front driveshaft u-joint -ENGINE BAYCheck out the overall cleanliness of the engine bay! This is not a steam clean special. This is a labor of love. A consistent cleaning to keep things looking great. Lets move to the suspension and brakes: -BRAKESNewer brake pads in the front and rear - loads of pad life! The truck brakes great. No ABS lights! ABS pump very quickly builds pressure, pedal feels great and no leaks or issues! -AIR SUSPENSIONThis is the REAL CHERRY for a P38 Range Rover. Most people/mechanics get scared to service the Electronic Air Suspension (EAS) on these trucks and convert them to springs in order to not get involved. This truck has had the air suspension completely serviced and checked and is FULLY FUNCTIONING. There are no codes, no ride height sensor, valve block, EAS computer or airbag issues. This truck rides WONDERFUL. Ahhhh, cushy wonderful air suspension is a treat! Cushy over bumps, but tight from great shocks in the corners. The truck features a toggle switch on the dash that allows for 4 preset ride heights. 1) Access Mode - low vehicle height meant just to ease access in and out of the truck. 2) Highway Mode - the truck automatically lowers to height between Normal mode and Access Mode in order to keep center of gravity lower during highway speeds. 3) Normal Road Mode - this mode is the default ride height to drive around town. 4) Off-Road Mode - raises ride height to a maximum height for clearing obstacles, fording water, or general off-road or clearance requiring driving. The switch in the dash toggles up Modes 1,3 and 4 (2 is automatic only) and ride height lock button works great to prevent the system from changing heights if you need to maintain access mode in a garage etc. The truck sits level, you can hear it adjust pressure, self level and fully operate. BRAND NEW Compressor, BRAND NEW rebuilt valve block, NEWER air springs in all corners! Upgraded Bilstein shocks all the way around as well! -STEERINGThe steering is tight and has no excess play. Let's continue to the exterior: -PAINTThe paint is very nice! It is a 8+/9- out of 10 easily. Shiny, beautiful Chawton White paint was recently polished, finished and waxed by a highly acclaimed detailer here in LA. It looks FANTASTIC. CLEAN and CLEAR CarFax. NO ACCIDENTS. There are few very minor dings, very minor chips and flaws which are very hard to see in pics and in person. There are a few scratches on the outside of the mirrors, which are not very noticeable until close and looking at them. NO PAINT FADE! Most Rovers paint has been compromised by the sun and poor care and the clearcoat has begun to chip and fade. Not here! Check out the roof pic - find another P38 without any clearcoat chipping! Remember this is a near 14 year old truck with totally original paint, there may be some minor scratches, wear etc, but they are well below any expectation level for Range Rover or cars of this year. This is a dry SoCal truck! That means no rust lurking under the surface ready to pop up and ruin your paint! If there was a place to buy ANY Rover, it is dry, warm SoCal. No rain and no road salt! -WHEELSGone are the Hurricane wheels this Rover came with from the factory. They were great wheels, but also look a little plain on the truck. So they were replaced with 19" Factory Land Rover L322 wheels. These wheels were offered on the next generation Rover and fit perfectly. Speaking of perfect - I rarely ever use that word. I tend to be a glass half empty person and when it comes to cars, perfection just frankly doesnt happen much. BUT...these wheels I think could deserve the word PERFECT. No curb marks, no stains - just BRIGHT gorgeous chrome. They look brand new!!! -TIRESTires have 75%+ life remaining and ready to go countless thousands of miles! -BUMPERS, VALANCES and PLASTICSThe plastics are VERY nice on this truck! Dark black in color, and rich in depth! The lower grill and valance are nice and the foglights are free of cracks or issues! -GLASSNot to let a pebble defeat this truck, the windshield is great shape! -TRAILER HITCHThe truck has a factory trailer hitch! -FOGLIGHTSOEM foglights both work great! Onto the cabin: -SEATSThe Walnut leather seats are fantastic!!! They are incredibly supportive with what feels like zero foam wear. The leather is SO soft and comfortable. I truly love driving this truck. You sit high and comfortably in these buttery soft seats! The dark brown piping offsets the Walnut leather perfectly! The leather has been very well cared for and shows only extremely minor flaws at worst. The interior has been recently cleaned and conditioned as well! Words dont express well enough just how wonderful the seats are in this beauty! -HEADLINERBRAND NEW headliner looks fantastic! No sagging Rover headliners here! -CARPETBeautiful carpet in the truck! It has been shampooed and cleaned as part of the overall detail. VERY nice! -NAVIGATIONFULLY FUNCTIONING original Rover Navigation system! Rare! Off road and onroad functions work as they should! -POWER SEATSAll power seat functions work perfect! Hard to find in a P38! -POWER WINDOWSAll windows work smooth and quickly! Another hard to find in a P38! -SUNROOFSunroof works great, tips forward to vent and slides back to fully open! -RADIO OEM radio has been replaced with a Sony aftermarket head unit and sounds great -AC/HEAT/HVAC PanelAC is ice cold and Heat is earth core hot! This is not the typical P38 HVAC panel that you have to click your heels and pat your head and pray to the moon gods to get it to work right. BRAND NEW rebuilt panel - EVERY LCD WORKS. The fan control knob works great, the driver and passenger dual zone climate control, blend motors and vent controls all work. Auto temp mode works great too!! -MIRRORSPower mirrors work perfectly! -WOODVERY nice wood on the console and dash! The finish is great and the stain is smooth -STEERING WHEELThe leather is nice with only minor flaws, no serious wear or split seams! -KEYLESS ENTRYRemote keyless entry arms the alarm with a press of a button! ALL DOORS lock and unlock - potentially a Rover first! -CARGO AREALoad space cover in place (usually they are missing!) and in great shape! Rear carpet is fantastic! Driving this Rover is fantastic. It is Lexus quiet inside, pulls and handles like a sports car and is as comfortable as a Rolls Royce. It has all the power it had from the factory an then some, and from even a little gas is torquey and responsive. I hope you can tell by my long ad that this truck is a great pre-owned and beautiful Range Rover. There are other Range Rover, but if you do find one for sale and it has more methodical service, I urge you to buy it! Remember, Rovers take a little extra care and feeding, so a Rover with 80k miles with questionable, unknown or poor service history is worth about as much as a Slurpee if you add up all the service that will need to be done to make it a reliable, beautiful, solid truck again. Don't spend big money on a truck from a "turn-em-and-burn-em" style dealer when all they do to promote the truck is say a few things they think people like to hear. As you may tell from my ad, I know the care that these trucks need and the details that make them tier 1, from a tier 2 or worse and I hope to have addressed them to those of you that know as well. If an ad says "Low miles and well cared for" Ask questions! If you don't get thorough, well addressed answers, start planning more money and more aspirin. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION! If you were to add up all of the recent items in this truck, you would find well over $10k in recent retail scheduled and preventive service and restoration alone. This truck is ready to go live another 100k+++ miles of beautiful, reliable, enjoyed life in your hands. Don't buy an unserviced truck for a little less than spend multiple times as much to get it to this level of service! Feel free to ask me any questions at all.
