Vehicle Detail
This is a NO RESERVE auction. This highest bidder wins so good luck. You are bidding on a 2004 Mercedes SL600 with the AMG Sport-Package packing a 5.5L V12 that produces 493hp. If for some reason that isn't enough, this engine can be made to produce over 600hp with a simple ECU upgrade. You can't do that with an SL500 or SL55. This is a great car to drive with plenty of power and excellent handling. Still one of the best looking hardtop convertibles around. Overall, the car is in very good condition with only 78,957 miles, which is low for the car's age. The paint, body, and interior are in very good condition for the car's age. There are some minor nicks in the front front highway driving and a few blemishes around the body but a good detailing would fix most of that. The motor and transmission are in great condition with no problems, starts easy and runs and shifts great. The car has been lowered about an inch using Ghost Link adjustable lowering links to give it a more aggressive stance but I still have the factor links. The retractable roof works just fine as you can see in the pictures. Brakes are fine. Many people worry about the ABC system but the key is to flush the system every one to two years and use the upgraded filter. There are two very correctable ISSUES with this car that bidders needs to be aware of. The engine mounts need to be replaced and the leather on the top of the dash shrank and needs to be repaired (see pictures). I do have the upper dash vents, gauge cover, and clock vent, they just weren't in the pictures. Otherwise, there are minor issues like a a coolant hose damaged because of the motor mounts, a knot on the front left tire, and a missing passenger side jack port cover. The trunk battery is less than two years old but since I don't really drive this car, it needs a full charge either by driving or a battery charger. Considering the low starting bid, even with these issues this car is an absolute steal. Where else can you get this much power is such a cool convertible body. The winning bidder stands to save thousands even after repairs. I have too many other cars and simply wish to sell this one. I don't play games or cheat anyone, I've described the car accurately. Additional info: The car is very drivable but with one torn mount and the other damaged, it just has to be driven gently. The mount do need to be replaced soon. Coolant hose is damaged but the car is not leaking fluid. If I top it off, some with leak back out but not that much. Engine temp is stable. I can't really speak to a long distance drive, except to say in my local driving the car is fine. The car was not driven in the snow or on salty roads. There is no problem with rust or corrosion. I have a couple of underbody pics but I can't load anymore. The car has been garage kept since I've owned it. ABC pump was replaced several years ago under extended warranty but the problem was really a $1 O-ring. ABC fluid was flushed a couple of years ago (this is not even on Mercedes schedule maintenance - big mistake on their part. Mercedes high-end cars are very sensitive so all fluid need to be changed periodically). Panels to the left and right of the rear window are replaceable. I have 3 or 4 keys. Only 2 can be programmed to the keyless go at one time. I still have the original manuals in the original manual case. The car has been maintained by the dealer and two independent shops (one exclusively Mercedes - who did most things after the warranty ran out). If anyone was wondering, this car does have linguatronics (voice recognition) but it is absolutely worthless (in my humble opinion). The car does not have distronic (adaptive cruise control), just regular cruise control. The car have never been in an accident or repainted. Paint is in good shape but I would recommend some rubbing compound and a clay bar and it would look nearly new. I purchased the car in 2006 and there was one owner before me. The few issues with the car are more than made up by the low starting bid. I would recommend a "good" independent shop (best one's have star diagnostics) for repairs or do it yourself if you have the skill and save even more. Other stuff:If you plan to pay by cashier's check, I will need to call the issuing bank during business hours to verify the check. Sorry for any inconvenience. If you're out of state and plan to drive back, Maryland does issue temporary tags good for 30 days (it's normally for MD registration but send them back in 30 days and no problem). Cost is $20. Latest:The car passed the Maryland emissions test today.Topped off coolant and drove to work. Coolant level is stable, car ran great.Apparently Autocheck says there is a lien on the car. The car was paid off years ago and I have the clear title in my possession.
