Vehicle Detail
This is a very nice 1937 Lincoln Zephyr 4 Door Sedan. This car was purchased from a little old lady in a small town here in Texas. The car has the 267.5 CID V-12 engine that runs great, with the 3 Spd Transmission. It came with an optional gas heater, and factory radio. The car had a restoration completed in the 1990's, and has some good quality work and some not so good quality work. The glass is in good shape, but has some scratches on some of it from sanding. There are 2 very minor cracks that are not very noticeable. The car has all new wiring from front to back, and all new weather stripping. The interior was completely redone in a factory stitching and similar cloth. this includes carpet, headliner, door panels, kick panels, seats, and firewall. All the Chrome was replayed and looks very nice. The paint job was of a poor quality. There is orange peel in the paint, with buffing compound in the microscopic pits, giving it a slight whitish fading when the light hits it just the right way. It does give it a bit of a vintage patina. I have found that if i use a liquid wax, it diminishes this fading. there are also some very minor dings here and there. The doors, hood, and trunk open and close very well and lock appropriately. All the locks work well, including the door, trunk, and glove box. I have replaced the fuel sending unit and battery very recently. All the gauges work, along with the speedometer. I believe that the engine was gone through in the 90's, and runs very well. it is painted in the original color and detailed nicely. This car only needs detailing to be very nice, but you can enjoy it just as it is. I drive this car a lot. Sometimes every day for periods, and at least several times a week. The oil pressure always reads 50 pounds for the first 10 minutes, then it goes down to 20. After it gets to operating temp, it will go lower at an idle, but while driving it stays around 15. The Zephyr owners have told me that this is typical and that a high volume oil pump will alleviate that. The oil float needs to be replaced and I have the new float and gaskets to fix it. The Clutch does slip a little at times, and may need adjustment or new disc. I do have a new pressure plate that will go with the car. This car still has the mechanical brakes and the work great. I can even lock the wheels up if I need to stop quickly. The radiator is also the original non pressurized type. As a result, I will sometimes have to put water in it after a longer drive. This is a very nice car that you can have fun with now. This turns heads everywhere I go in it, and it is a very unique car that you do not see much of around the shows.
