Vehicle Detail
This 1986 CRX Si is a first generation CRX. The Si version was originally introduced 1985, and at the time it’s 100 hp or so made it a hot rod. Great fun to drive, and for it’s time, was pretty quick! This particular Si is, for all practical purposes, a one owner vehicle, and was sold new in State College, PA. Although it only has 14,318 miles on the odometer, it did sit outside his home most of the time. At one point, perhaps fifteen years ago the car was sideswiped as it was parked on the street. Because of the number of body panels that were affected, the insurance company totaled the car. There was no structural damage, just scrapes and bent sheet metal. Unfortunately we do not have any “before” pictures. The owner wanted to keep the car, so he negotiated with the insurance company to buy back the car, and have it fixed at his own expense. The downside of this is that because the insurance company totaled the car, when the owner then titled the car back into his name, the title was branded as a “rebuilt” vehicle. As a “rebuilt” title, even though mileage is accurate, it also is considered a “true mileage unknown” vehicle. Because the entire left side of the car was damaged, the owner decided to have the entire car repainted, and unfortunately went for price over quality. The car is a good 20 foot car, but when looked at closely one can see that the job could have been done better as orange peel and drips are evident. Due to the low miles, the interior is immaculate, but the car could use a re-spray. Since the car sat outside most of its life in PA, there are four floor pan patches, as can be seen in pictures. We acquired the CRX when the owner decided to trade it in on a new Honda. The car runs well, and is tight, and is a hoot to drive. We have a couple other project cars to complete, so have decided to thin the herd and sell this one.
