Vehicle Detail

I have owned this car for twelve years. My son owned it for one year prior to that. There was one owner prior to my son and me owning the car. I've used this as my daily driver all the time that I've had it. It has been an extremely dependable over the years. My wife and I just bought two late model Lexus vehicles and we're selling the 300CE in this auction as well as our 560SEL which you will find in our other auction. That is the reason we are selling these wonderful classic automobiles. The car has always been an Atlanta car and we have the records from day one. The drive train is original with the exception of the transmission, which was replaced at around 75,000 miles by the original owner under warranty at the dealer. There has been no internal engine or differential work performed. Starts great when the engine is cold. Always starts when hot, but with some difficulty. This car has always passed emissions testing on the first try. No emissions testing is required anymore. Bids will only be accepted from the 48 contiguous United States of America. Thank you for checking out my auction and be sure to look at the other classic Mercedes that I have listed as well. On Jul-06-15 at 20:08:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional information... I checked out the two noted failed emissions tests. The earlier one occurred before I owned the car and I'm not sure why it failed. The second one occurred very near the time we bought the car and it was a failed gas cap. I always carried a new one with me after that to future emissions tests but never needed one again. On Jul-07-15 at 12:45:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi Gary The information that I gave you regarding the accident was incorrect. I thought we were talking about the 560SEL. You requested information about the 300CE's 1995 accident. That didn't happen while we had the car, but from what I understand in the report attached to the ebay ad, it was minor. If I hadn't read the report, I would not have known it ever happened. No evidence that I can see now. With regard to the condition of the 300CE; you have two other 124 chassis vehicles, so you are aware of some of the good things and issues of this series of car. The bad things... The timing chain gasket is "L" shaped and its hard to seal a vertical surface to a horizontal one. Oil leaks from this area are normal even after you reseal them. There is one space on the head gasket where the water and oil are very close to each other and this has known to fail putting the oil and water together in the engine. This has never been a problem for this vehicle although occasionally there is some seepage "out" of coolant or oil. The car starts great when you first start it cold. Once it is warmed up and sits a bit, it starts every time, but with some difficulty. I've discussed this with my Mercedes tech some time ago and he changed out the fuel distributor and got it to where he states it is starting correctly. It does have some difficulty. I generally give it a little gas as it spins around, comes to life, and revs up a bit. Its never had any internal engine work done, so you can imagine, the top end could use some valve seals. The sliding passenger seat movement is sometimes intermittent. The good things... All of the lights on the instrument panel properly illuminate in the on position and properly go out. It drives incredibly, its quick, responsive, comfortable, and looks great, (Black on black makes this especially good!) This has been my favorite car to drive everyday for the last decade or so. so. I asked because I just bought a 1994 E320 convertible unseen on ebay and though I really like the car there are some things that I just would like to have known in advance. Your car is of some interest to me because I want a coupe - I love the looks and after all, I seldom have back seat passengers anyway. The mileage intrigues me; I have a 400E with 269,000 miles and a 300TD with 329,000 miles and yours would fit in pretty well. The down side is that 1990 is not a desirable year to me (unique engine/fuel injection system with poor used parts availability and I don't care for that wheel style). Is there anything that doesn't work? Any dashboard warning lights illuminated? Someone came up from behind, asleep, went into the median and back up into the back door. Sports and Imports Collision did the repair here in Atlanta. I d prefer not showing the car. I know that might turn you off. I understand why you d like to see it... Here s the thing: I want to sell both cars quickly; get the insurance off them and on my new ones. My son doesn't t want me involved with seeing people driving the cars and wondering if they re going to rob or kill me or drive off with the cars. We realize this will not get the best value for the cars, but it is safe and quickly over with. I'm sorry and I hope you understand. - pinesprings From: alchemistunderway To: pinesprings Subject: Vehicle condition: alchemistunderway sent a message about Mercedes-Benz : 300-Series 300CE #252018032030 Sent Date: Jul-06-15 20:39:11 PDT Dear pinesprings, Can you provide any information about the accident in 1995? I may be interested in coming to see it if that is OK; I live in Lincoln County GA about 2.5 hours away from you. Thanks, Gary On Jul-08-15 at 13:40:11 PDT, seller added the following information: xxxxxxxxxxx I've included five pictures for you. Picture #1: RF corner tight on side window side and some looseness of the vinyl on the windshield side. Picture #2: LR and picture #3 RR corner tight on side window side and some looseness from rear glass. Picture #4: both seat belt extractors work perfectly and containers are clean and tight. Picture #5: Headliner is in excellent condition. Please let me know if you have any other questions. - pinesprings From:xxxxxxxxxx To: pinesprings Subject: xxxxxxxxxx has sent a question about item #252018032030, ending on Jul-12-15 19:22:29 PDT - Mercedes-Benz : 300-Series 300CE Sent Date: Jul-07-15 18:49:02 PDT Dear pinesprings, I was hoping I could call u but here goes. I would like to know what kind of shape the interior panels are where the front seat belts come out including the plastic pieces nearest to the window. Also the panels in the rear where the seat belts come out and lastly the head liner. - xxxxxxxxxxxxOn Jul-09-15 at 14:07:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Question: I have the picture of the left side seat belt extender on the inside of the car but I would like the right side same picture and both taken from the outside where that small piece of plastic is. Finally the rear center console. Are the two panels in the back totally broken or just the one clip upper on each. Looking good so far. I'm only concerned because these parts can't be purchased new. I have a 91 300CE 24 that I can use some parts of. Does this one have telescoping steering wheel and memory seat on the driver side. Response: Thank you for your question. The "server" was not completing my picture uploads to you, so I added them to the auction pictures. You'll see them at the end of the picture row. You will see the other seat belt extender and the enclosure from the inside of the car. Also shown are both extenders from the outside of the vehicle. Both belt extenders work perfectly. Also find a picture of the rear console. I also included an outside shot of the vehicle's inside from the open left door. I looked at the two panels at the back and they are separated somewhat from the rear glass and tight to the side glass. I do not wish to disrupt them. They have never been off while I owned the car. Obviously, they have warped or something has become loose or broken to allowed them to separate somewhat from the rear glass. However, I don't know the exact cause and I don't wish to mess with them. The car does have a telescoping steering wheel with two memory presets on the driver's side. I just tested them by setting them, telescoped the steering wheel inward, and touched the presets. The presets work perfectly as the steering wheel returned to its preset positions. I hope this answers your questions. Let me know if you have any others.
