Vehicle Detail

1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie Skyliner Retractable Convertible For your consideration is "Lola", a 1959 Ford Skyliner. Like the song from the 1955 film, Damn Yankees..."What Lola Wants, Lola Gets". This beauty was bought 8 years ago in very nice shape, and I have slowly made her better. This is an almost all original car, save for the continental kit and interior upholstery. In fact, I won "Best Original Car" at the local car show/chili cookoff two years ago. Please take time to peruse the many pictures by letting your computer upload the images....you wont be dis-appointed. Lola is a great specimen and example of the finest that Ford had to offer in 1959. This is NOT a 100 point car by any means, by then again, this automobile is not listed for $60-70,000 either. What you will find is a very nice grade 2 (two) classic. The restoration was initially done about 10 years ago in Colorado. This car has been mostly in the dry southern part of Colorado and here in the Eastern Sacramento area. There is really no rust to speak of other than some blistering on the front right rocker, maybe the size of a quarter. This beauty runs great at any speed, and the only problem I would note is a slight hesitation off the start....something I attribute to maybe a needed carb adjustment, but more probable the vacuum advance to the tranny. That being said, those are the two items which need attention. Now for the good stuff............ As you can see from the pictures, this car is one nice ride. Well taken care of by the previous owner, and made better by these additions........ The rare Flying Elipse Hood Ornament Rear Continental Kit Brand New Coker Tires w/3 inch Whitewalls Ford Tissue Holder 4 Starburst Wheel Covers Painted Luggage Tub and Custom Cover California 1956 Plates Fender Skirts The rare Front and Rear Bumper Gaurds (Dagmars) The automobile comes with the popular 332 CI Thunderbird Special V8 Engine, Power Steering, Power Brakes, AM Radio, Newly Rebuilt Front Steering Linkages. As an added bonus, this classic has had the whole Retractable Roof system overhauled by the pre-imminent "Skyliner Roof" guru, Wayne Rollins in 2012. Everything works as it should. The motor does not smoke, the radiator does not leak, and power steering and power brake reservoirs seem to be tight. Since the car has been sheltered since the restoration in 2005, the interior still seems new. The paint was done professionally in the Salman/Geranium color that was so popular in 1959. The original owner ordered this one to have the "two tone" option and sports the Colonial White on the center strip and trunk/hood. As it is 10 years old, you will find a number of nicks in the paint, but that is to be expected. Again, this is NOT a 100 point trailer queen....just a head turning son of a gun! The numbers match on the car, and I have supplied the specs at the bottom of the listing, so you can see where it was made, and when. Including the details of the drivetrain. The roof was designed to be used regularly, and the more you use it, the better. People seem to love the action of lowering and raising the roof. Kids think its some sort of "Transformer" toy. If you ever wanted a classic car from the 50s, and one where you get a convertible to boot, then Lola is for you. Factor in the "collectible" value, and you have an easy decision to make. I am retiring, and will need to cull my car collection and finish restoring my Model A, so I have to say good bye to Lola. But she has made me happy these past 8 years. Just like magic, the Skyliner converts easily and surely from all-steel hardtop to sun-loving convertible in less than a minute! I will require a $1000.00 deposit so I know you are a serious buyer. I will help in anyway I can with delivery to your home, just ask.
