Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 2000 Lincoln Continental because it does not meet the needs of my job. I have to be able to haul lumber and there is no good way to do it with this car without tearing it up. I am looking to sell it to finance my next purchase. I bought the car a little over a year ago with the intention of driving it until the wheels fell off. I did a lot of research (over a period of 6 months) and was extremely picky on what car to settle on. Its Front wheel drive, automatic and has the 4.6L engine. If you do your research, you'll find that these run well over the 200K mile mark with just general maintenance. It is the same engine that is used in the legendary Town Car line which is the basis for every Livery service car in the USA. If well maintained 500K is not uncommon. This was the basis for me purchasing this car in the first place. I put new Raybestos brakes on it all the way around and changed the rotors, Replaced the power steering rack (it worked but was starting to leak) and did the power steering pump at the same time to both flush the system and guarantee it would be trouble free. I replaced the front Torque strut on the engine, and replaced all the O-Rings to stop the A/C from leaking as well as a new battery. I replaced all the sparkplugs with Iridium's, did a trans flush and filter change, PCV, fuel filter, Spectre air filter run full synthetic Mobil 1. Again, I planned on keeping this car for a VERY long time. It has pretty much every option available for 2000. Cruise on the steering wheel, a 6 disc CD changer, heated leather seats, traction control,ABS brakes, all the standard stuff one would expect in a modern automobile and everything works. It also has a lot of cool features like you can change the vehicles handling right from the interface, such as how much steering effort is required. It has air ride which works flawlessly with no leaks, and can do a full system check on itself to tell you if anything is low or needs serviced. Its pretty darn cool. The interior leather is very good for its age, never smoked in, and the pictures speak for themselves. To be totally honest, there are a few minor issues that I want to address. One there are 2 spots of rust on the bottoms of the rear doors. From the side you can not see them very well, unless you are right up on the car. The passenger side is the worst of the 2. Again, I am a car guy and very particular, but I thought they weren't that noticeable. Two, there is an airbag light on in the dashboard, it refers to the clock spring in the steering wheel. It is a bad design and one that many ford products from 1997-2003 suffered from. Its a $100 part that can be replaced if you remove the wheel. There are many guides online how to do it, but it never bothered me and didn't interfere with the performance of the vehicle. Three, the door keypad on the driver side had a phantom draw which kept killing the battery. This one had me stumped and I had to take it into get looked at. The solution was to disconnect the keypad. Again, it has key-less entry with a key fob that unlocks the doors so this was a non issue. Finally, the passenger side rear door lock actuator is sticky. It locks with the click of the switch or key but does not unlock with the switch. It has to be manually lifted. Its just my wife and I so this was a non issue to. It could easily be fixed with some white lithium grease as the actuator does move, just not enough to get it fully unlocked. I have tried to be totally transparent about the vehicle and I have no doubt in my mind that it will make someone one heck of a good car. It has always got me to and from where I needed to go and I have taken it on numerous 90 mile trips with 0 issues. These cars are the last of the big, comfy american cruisers and I hope that someone enjoys it as much as I have. This vehicle is being sold as-is where-is with no warranty expressed or implied. Payment is expected in cash at time of pick-up. I also have the vehicle for sale locally and reserve the right to end the auction early. Thanks for Looking! I just had the vehicle inspected on 6/26/2015. The results of the inspection are as follows, 1. Front Struts are leaking, 2. Valve Cover Gaskets are leaking, 3. Left outer Tie Rod is going out. As a result I have lowered my price to cover the cost of parts. On Jun-27-15 at 11:17:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Bidders with 0 feedback history will be canceled.
