Vehicle Detail
Listing for sale a running/driving, relatively straight 1958 Chevrolet DelRay (very similar to the Bel Air / Belair). Came across this after it had been sitting for 4yrs before which it was a daily driver. It's in surprisingly good condition for it's age with minimal rust and no detectable bondo. This is a CA car registered through 2016 with a clear title. This could be a solid daily driver again with minimal work or an excellent candidate for any kind of restoration or hot rod build given its completeness and great bones. I'm not particularly knowledgable on vehicles, but the man I purchased it from stated drive train includes:"0.030 over 327 V8 and Turbo 350 with a shift kit. Also has a 290 or 310 ring and pinion. No problem achieving free-way speeds."He cut the exhaust off. As you can tell is pretty loud without the muffler, but the engine purrs once warm (probably even better after you adjust the carb, change points, plugs, etc). No knocks. Starts pretty easy.Automatic transmission shifts smoothly however the linkage on the column is sticky and will need some revising (however this is all peripheral linkage and a pretty easy fix). Asking what I believe is a fair price for a running classic, but feel free to make a reasonable offer Good:California CarRegistered through 2016 with a clear titleMinimal RustPeripheral lights all seem to workUpgraded drivetrainOverall straight metal with a few dings/dentsIntact glass all aroundChrome appears to be all there (but look for yourself)Floor pans appear rust free (although has had some patches repaired)New BatteryGood oil pressureHorn and lights workGas Gauge works Bad:Tiny bit of through rust over left headlight and left rear fender (as pictured). Only surface rust elsewhereLeft front broad dent (easily pulled).Shift Linkage is sticky and it's sometimes difficult to shift out of park, but once in gear no problem (Poorly fabricated linkage which should be a very easy fix).Missing some door panels and inner trim, but some parts including glovebox and additional dash pieces in trunkWhat you see is what you get.Drives fine around the neighborhood, but should be trailered home as it truly is a barn find and will need the basics (oil change, points, brake adjustments etc before more reliable). I am by no means a car expert or mechanic. Please examine the pictures closely and ask lots of questions (I'll try to answer). If you're near Sacramento, CA please message me to arrange a visit if you prefer. $250 Paypal deposit due immediately at time of purchase with full payment and pickup within 2 week of auction's end (unless other pickup arrangements made prior to end of auction). Not available for pickup between June 14 and 19th as I'll be out of town.
