Vehicle Detail
I am selling my beloved 2006 Touareg V10 TDI which I have enjoyed and meticulously maintained for the last five years. It is in excellent condition visually and mechanically. The wheels are German made by Hartmann--18" Audi Q7 replicas and I will include the extra full size spare. Tires are Michelin LTX M/S2 in 265/60 R18 with a little over 10,000 miles on them with 40,000 miles of tread left. Pretty much everything on this car still works beautifully, climate control, heated seats, parking heater, air suspension, folding mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, nav, etc. The leather is the prettiest I've ever seen in a car (Teak aka saddle brown) and everyone who sees the car and steps inside thinks its brand new. The only exceptions are the broken pull handle on the rear seat to fold the 1/3 section down, but it can still be operated easily with a pair of pliers I keep in the side pocket. Also the rear parking sensors have not worked since I bought the car, but I've never felt the need to get them fixed since it has the backup cam. The exterior looks great--Xenon headlights are crystal clear, paint is still great condition. This car has the rare rear locking differential option as part of the true 4x4 system, so with the air suspension raised up in off road mode it's ready for whatever you want to throw at it. Extras: I have some VW accessories which I will include: Monster mat floor mats, rear cargo area pet divider, and rear cargo area plastic tray liner.History: I bought the car from a well respected luxury car dealer in Portland Oregon in August 2010 (Freeman Motorcars) with 35k miles on the odometer. There was a previous theft in the vehicle history report. I had it inspected and this never bothered me. I've owned it the last 70k so rest assured there aren't any surprises. Only minor damage was reported, and I think they just busted the windows since I found some pieces of broken glass in the interior. But price is reduced from what I would otherwise ask if this was not on the vehicle history. At about 38,000 mi under the factory warranty period one of the turbos went out. VW replaced both turbos and computer at the direction of VW USA. This was a known issue for some VINs and the replacement parts fixed the design issue...turbos should be good for the life of the car now. Air suspension pump went out around 85,000 miles and was replaced. Its likely however that it could have been fixed with the service kit VW sells for $120. The suspension air bags are made by Continental and this has a reputation of being a reliable system. The engine idles as smoothly as the day I got it.The V10 TDI came with every option and was a product of visionary VW chief Ferdinand Piech who wanted an exceptional car to lead the VW line, so that was the V10 TDI Touareg along with the V10 TDI Phaeton. The brakes are amazing, has the giant 6 piston Brembo calipers that are the exact same on the Ferrari F440. Its unlikely that VW or anyone else will produce a car like this again in this category, which is why it is a legend now. Watch the video of it out-pulling a big Chevy Duramax in a tow off: https://youtu.be/k62gW3Se5e0 It is probably the best tow vehicle ever made in its category--the combination of auto-leveling air suspension, 553 lb-ft of torque, and integrated trailer control module that interfaces with the ABS to reduce trailer sway make it painless and safe to tow. With the back-up cam and lowering the air suspension hooking up can be done in a snap. I would love to keep it, but I just bought a 2013 Touareg!
