Vehicle Detail
Carefully maintained E39 2002 BMW 540 6-speed needs a new home. I'm the second owner. The first owner traded in the car at a BMW dealership in 2014 with only 57,000 miles on the clock. It now has a touch over 68,000 miles (my daily driver, so it will rise by about 15 miles/day). I love E39 BMWs, especially the 540, as it hits the sweet spot between the M5 and the 530. Unfortunately, I'm facing a 60-mile daily commute with changing employment, so I need something more gas-frugal. That being said, I've achieved up to 31 mpg on the interstate. Lots of options and standard features (see window sticker) including: xenon automatic headlights, M-Technic sport suspension, rain-sensing windshield wipers, 12-way power sport seats with memory and 3-stage heater; power tilt and telescope M-sport multifunction steering wheel; automatic-dimming mirrors; remote door locks, 2-zone automatic climate control, 17" M wheels, power glass moonroof, automatic windows (up and down, all four). I've carefully maintained the car (see service history below), and the previous owner had it serviced regularly at the dealership. All books and records come with the car. The car is always garaged and has never been tracked or modified, except for the OEM short shift kit (I'll include the original in the off-chance you want to return to long-throw shifts). The tires are Bridgestone Potenzas and have lots of tread life remaining - they are less than a year old and have about 10k miles on them. The car is in great cosmetic shape, but there are a few scratches here and there. The front bumper cover is rashed underneath from rubbing on curbs and parking stops. The wheels have a small amount of curb rash. The plastic windshield washer tank has a leak. The interior is in good shape but there is a small stain on the passenger seat that I haven't bothered to try to remove. The fabric on the rear deck and at the bottom of the rear pillar is starting to come loose. There are some pixels missing on the dash, but the radio display is perfect. I had a glancing encounter with a deer earlier this year, which slightly dented the driver's side front and rear fender lips. I had it professionally repaired and repainted. (I have pictures of the dent if you care to see them.) Overall, this 540 is in great condition. I'll also include two ultimate aluminum cupholders, which work much better than the OEM ones.
