Up for auction is a 1962 Fort Ranchero I am selling for my father. He bought it about five years ago but never drove it because of a starter problem. When you go to start it sometimes the starter engages just fine and turns the engine over, but other times it does not engage and just spins but there is no grinding. When you start the engine it usually starts right up but idles a little rough at first but smooths out after a few seconds(engine does not smoke). The carburetor is a two barrel and needs a little adjusting and the engine could use a good tuneup. I do not know how to identify the engine, transmission, or rear axle, but my father was told when he bought it that all three where from a Mustang, and that the engine was a 302. It has real wire wheels on all four corners, they do have some surface rust. The front are four lug but the rear axle being from a mustang the rear wheels have five lugs. I have driven the car half a dozen times or so and the suspension feels good but does need shocks. The brakes are four wheel non power drum brakes and also feel really good, with no grinding or pulling. The body has been repaint at some point and is peeling in a few spots, and you can see the original paint underneath. There is some rust in the rear quarter panels and some significant rust in the interior floor panels. The interior upholstery is in good shape except for the door panels and kick panels which shows some water damage due to leaky windows. Reserve is set at $1700. I have not noticed any leaks, but I have only had the car for a little while.
