The Mercury Marauder X-100 is one of the most unique cars that Ford ever built. Being just a two year run (1969-1970) and only 2646 of these built for 1970, this is one rare auto! Following in the tradition of the legendary Marauder of the early-mid 60's, this 70' Marauder X-100 is the epitome of a Personal Luxury Performance car! This 1970 Mercury Marauder X-100 spent its entire life in sunny Georgia. It is rust free ,no filler, wearing all of its original sheet-metal. It appears to have had one repaint in its original code 2142 Medium bronze poly. I would call this a very nice "driver quality " job with a very smooth glossy finish. Just a few small chips and dings. One small flaw in the center of the hood ,apparently from an over length air cleaner stud. This has been touched up and is not that noticeable. The body panels are extremely straight with great panel alignment. Undercarriage, floor and trunk pans are also rust free and rock solid! All chrome and bright-work is in very good to excellent condition. Bumpers are very nice. All glass is excellent. One small chip in windshield is shown in photo. The Briar brown elk grain vinyl top is brand new, just professionally replaced last month! Really sets this beauty off! Inside is dark ginger vinyl upholstery in excellent condition. Brand new correct replacement carpet with matching carpeted floor mats. No rips or tears. No cracks in dash pad. There is some minor sun fading on the front seat backs. Seat padding is firm and comfortable.No excessive wear. This X-100 is equipped with Power steering, Power disc brakes, Whisper-Aire air conditioning, AM/FM stereo radio, Power windows, Power Driver seat , Tilt steering wheel. There is a Sony AM/FM/CD player neatly mounted in the glove compartment and connected to the factory speakers that works perfect. I do not know the working condition of the factory radio. Odometer reads 44000 miles , Georgia title states "exceeds mechanical limits" due to age of vehicle . Mechanically this classic Mercury is ready to be driven anywhere! Equipped with its matching # 360 Hp. 429 Thunderjet engine and C-6 automatic transmission. Below is a list of new, recently replaced parts; Complete professional engine rebuild as follows: Less than 200 miles! All parts thermo-cleaned, Block bored .030 and finish honed, new Sealed-Power pistons, Crankshaft turned .010 and micro-polished, connecting rods re-sized, Heads surfaced, new valve guides and springs, valve job, new stock profile camshaft and lifters, new Federal-Mogul bearings, New OEM Ford piston rings, Melling oil pump, timing chain and gears, Fel-Pro gaskets and seals. All tune up parts: points, plugs cap, rotor and spark plug wires. All fluids and filters.Exhaust manifolds glass beaded and calyx coated. This fresh 429 runs like a watch, strong tight and powerful, the C6 transmission shifts positive and smooth. Also all new; Radiator, hoses and belts, battery and cables, fuel pump, carburetor, engine mounts, all 3 brake hoses, power steering gear box, power steering hoses, idler arm, pitman arm. (4) new 235/70/15 raised white letter radial tires (less than 200 miles) mounted on correct original Kelsey-Hayes forged wheels with all correct original trim rings and centers. The original Good Year H70-15 spare is also mounted on its Kelsey-Hayes wheel. A/C is all complete and functional, but needs system charged. Clock does not work. Tilt steering column has a little play but works properly. The vacuum headlight doors work perfectly but will drift open in a couple of days when parked (very typical) They close as soon as engine is started. That's it ! Not bad for 45 years old! This car is ready to cruise with confidence and enjoy! as it increase It is a joy to drive ! And the attention you get every where you go is unbelievable!
