Vehicle Detail

You're bidding on a 1971 Classic VW Bug that was stripped and professionally painted by the previous owner. He started the conversion but never finished. I've put in a good battery pack, balanced and well mounted with 12 6-volt Trojan batteries (considered the best). They are about three years old. The battery pack has relatively few charge cycles and rarely goes down below half full (long battery life). Batteries are located in the trunk, the engine compartment, and behind the rear seat. It has a smart charger that lets you leave it plugged in all the time. I replaced the electric motors top end (bearing and brushes) recently when one of the brush wires shorted. The interior is basic but in decent shape. It has the original steering wheel, complete with the Wolfsburg center cover. I've mounted an amp meter and volt meter in the dash. The radio is newer with an SD car reader and there are aftermarket speakers mounted into the foot well area. The sound is decent enough though nothing fancy. Of course there's no engine noise competing! The calculated range (done by EV America of New Hampshire) is 59 miles, but honestly I've only done 25 miles at most. A lot will depend on how hard you accelerate and whether your climbing hills. I use it around town, mostly to take the kids to soccer and for ice cream trips and the like. It sits in the garage during the winter. We have solar panels on the roof so it is 100% green at my house. The charger is a Delta Q: QuiQ model 912-7200.The controller is an Altrax 7245The motor is a D&D ES-15. I use a separate charger to top up the 12-volt system. I have a bin of miscellaneous parts and a notebook with lots of information, manuals, etc. included. There is a low reserve making this a bargain electric car to use as is, convert to Lithium Ion Batteries or even to reconvert with a new motor. I've had it about 5 years and it is fun to drive and a real conversation piece. Now I'm shopping for a Model T. Thanks for looking!
