Vehicle Detail
I bought this car a couple of years ago to drive back and forth from Bozeman to Maine. I wanted a comfortable, reliable long distance cruiser. It's the last of the great American rear wheel drive land yachts with a Corvette LT1 engine and leather upholstery, the most comfortable car on the road today. It's a great long distance cruiser, fast, comfortable and surprisingly economical. It spent most of it's life in Louisiana and is rust free. I can't tell you its top speed, but I can confirm the EPA estimate of 17 MPG around town and 26 MPG highway. If you can stand to keep it under a steady 65 on the highway it will get over 26 MPG. It will also carry 8x4 foot plywood sheets flat. Or a double bed. Or just about anything an SUV will carry, but will do it in style. It has the heavy duty towing package including a low (ie. good gas mileage) axle ratio, and heavy duty transmission cooler. As I said I wanted a reliable long distance cruiser and I replaced everything that needed replacing plus a lot of preventive maintenance. In the last 1,000 miles I installed new high capacity spark plug wires and iridium plugs. And new hi performance distributor, and water pump as preventive maintenance. Installed new KYB Gas A Just shocks at all corners, drained and filled the differential and the transmission. And replaced the fuel and oil filters and all of the fluids. The upper and lower control arms needed new bushings and I replaced them with high-performance poly bushings.. All of the work was done professionally and I have all the receipts. It is a beautiful car but it's not perfect. It needs new a new trim strip and insert panel on the driver's door. The radio is missing a knob and the aerial does not retract (although the radio and sound system is superb and sounds very good). There is a chip of paint off a passenger side pillar. The driver's seat has a small hole on the left side. The top of the rear bumper shows wear. A handle cover is missing on the rear hatch although the handle works fine. And there are little scrapes and scratches you would expect from a well cared for 21 year old car. It runs and drives beautifully, needs nothing mechanically and I would not hesitate to drive it to Texas, Maine, or Florida without needing anything but gas. The car is registered in Montana. I'm selling it because I bought a very low mileage 96 Roadmaster Estate that took its place in our garage. Please email me if you have any questions.
