I found this 1970 Grand Prix about 15 years ago sitting off to the side of a double wide trailer, stopped to ask if it was for sale and got the, "I'm gonna fix it up" speech. Last year I stumbled across the same back roads and decided to stop and check on the car to see if it was still there, to my surprise it was still sitting in the same spot with so much overgrowth, you could barely see the car. About half way into the "I'm gonna fix it up speech, I reminded the guy that I stopped by about 15 years ago and the car had not moved. I finally convinced him into letting me save the old girl and after borrowing a saw and hedge cutters, I drug her home the same day. This would make an awesome car for someone, the odometer reads just over 39,000 I am not sure if it is correct, but looking at things like, no wear on the brake pedal, doors closing like new, windows rolling up and down like new, everything in tact under the hood as should be down to the packard spark plug wires, it makes me think the mileage is legit. The car has been parked since 1982. It was Gold on Gold with rally II wheels, 15'' 400 4 brrl engine 400 tranny, radio delete car, with a/c disc brakes, tinted windshield, roll up windows, factory dual exhaust. Overall this is a solid straight car that is running and driving again, BUT it will need a good tune up, fluid changes etc before you put her in the wind again. The body is solid other than the trunk area, it sat so long that the lip area rusted, as did the underside of the deck lid. It also rusted a hole in the trunk pan, I patched it with another panel, but if you are going to restore it right you will want to put a pan in it. Windshield has a small crack on the passenger side, the rest of the glass is in good shape. It appears the car had a cheap repaint at s sometime in its life, and bondo was used in the driver side low fender area. There is a dent on the passenger side front fender. very small amount of rust behind the rear fender wells. I placed a set of points in this car, the gap needs set correctly, and drained the fuel tank, which was very clean, installed new gas and she fired right up. I also installed a new shifter cable. Everything on the brakes looks new. I had a used set of tires put on her and I scuffed it down and shot a thin coat of primer to make her look clean while she set in the neighborhood. That way it will be easy to strip her down when she's ready for paint. I am including all pictures that I have so that you can see you are getting a good car to start with rather than a bondo buggy.
