Vehicle Detail

1970 LeMans Sport - “It’s ready to drive & enjoy, and a perfect GTO clone candidate...” This 1970 Pontiac LeMans Sport (VIN 237370Z107353, 103,182 miles currently) is originally a NEW MEXICO car. We have owned it since July, 1995, when it had 68,575 miles on it (the prior owner purchased in March, 1994). Documentation shows it was originally "Baja Gold" with white vinyl top & "Sadle" color interior (see “before” pics), had custom order items, and was sold at retail by a dealer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. (2 gas receipts found in the car show fuel costing 37¢ per gallon; fuel sold by attendant Elvis D. to one R. W. Lepisto, and the other sold by Theron to same buyer). This awesome car has been partially restored after 16 years in dry garage storage - new silver paint & fresh black interior (LEGENDARY TM front bucket seats!); fresh MASSIVE re-chromed (by CalCo) original (not damaged or rusted) bumpers front & back, new correct antenna windshield with all original tinted glass elsewhere; new old-style AM-FM 8-track radio, repaired clock internals. Feels tight, runs, looks & sounds right - original Pontiac 350 V-8, auto transmission, awesome fat Raised White Letter tires; added Holley 4BBL & Edelbrock intake, custom dual exhaust, replaced springs, restored wheel paint, recent brakes & battery. Road ready & all electrical WORKS - SHARP SWEET CAR! NEVER STORED OUTSIDE - FIRST OWNED IN DESERT CLIMATE & LOOKS IT UNDERNEATH! Need More Info? Please ask. See pictures including build sheet and gas receipts found inside the car during restoration. FULL DISCLOSURE - THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT OWNING THIS 45 YEAR OLD CAR: I have another restored 47 year old car and I would never drive it in any kind of foul weather and especially never in winter when there is salt on the road - damage to all the hard/expensive restoration work is certain; this car should be treated the same if you expect it to give you many years of enjoyment. DETAILS - ABOUT THE BODY: The body parts on this car appear to be original and 45 years old. There was no evidence of any kind of heavy accident damage discovered during restoration. The car was repainted with modern two-part paint 4 years ago in Alabaster Silver Metallic. The original windshield was replaced 4 years ago because it cracked across on the passenger side, apparently from some sort of pressure point, but definitely not because of an impact. The frame is unrestored/as found and body sheet metal was found to be free of heavy rusting EXCEPT FOUR AREAS: 1) lower trunk lid drip edge (fiberglass repair); 2) a five inch across by three inch high area at the top of left rear wheel opening (fiberglass repair); 3) the bottom portion of the rear windshield channel (body filler repair); and 4) a four inch by one inch drivers side floor pan rust through at heel area (metal repair). INTERIOR: ALL IS ORIGINAL EXCEPT NEW CARPET, LEGENDARY (TM) BUCKET SEAT COVERS, HEADLINER AND DASH COVER - ALL ELSE WAS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND PAINTED OR DYED BLACK. (TOP OF REAR SEAT BACK HAS A ONE-INCH TEAR.) ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL & MECHANICALS: The electrical and all mechanicals including body mechanicals (e.g. hinges, latches/locks, window operating systems) all work and are original. This is an A/C car but a previous owner removed the compressor and a portion of the interior cold air ducting, and these parts have not been restored. Tires are old, but have plenty tread due to infrequent driving, but they are old. A previous owner cut an access flap in the right side inner wheel well (possibly to replace the vent fan motor) flap is in place but the cut has not been repaired. SUMMARY: The car up to now reliably starts, runs, sounds good, stops, all electrical items are working, but it is 45 years old, is not warrantied, and has not been fully restored. Repairs have been made as needed for drivability such as belts, tune up, plug wires, water & fuel hoses, etc.), but there should be no expectation that entire car is restored nor is it in new condition. Buy & drive or make a GTO! Please send your questions. Additional details: Shipping: Buyer responsible for costs of vehicle pick-up or shipping. Pick-up to be scheduled with seller during daylight hours and fair weather (no rain or storm). Payments: Deposit of US $2000.00 within 24 hours of auction close. Full payment in US $ due within 5 days of auction close. Vehicle may be picked up after funds clear. Thank you for checking out this great car!
