Here is a 1985 Convertible Toyota Celica GTS with White and Blue interior. All original paint and untouched interior. Convertibles were very much a dying bloodline going from the 1970s into the mid 1980s. Today’s case in point is the charismatic Toyota-ASC collaboration on the Celica GTS Convertible. There were only produced for two years – 1984 and 1985 – with just 250 1984s striking the neighborhoods, making this fresh white car for sale especially rare. There were about 4,500 produced for 1985. As children of the 1970s and 1980s, we have a soft spot for a wedgy, boxy sporty car. People chatter about Japanese cars as having no character or soul, but to me the older they get the more character they seem to have. At a cost of about $17,000 new, the Celica Convertible filled a niche between standard Japanese sporty coupes and higher-end European Gts. This car represents the third generation of Toyota Celicas, and the last of the rear-wheel drive cars in the line. The steering has variable-speed assist which is a little numb at low speeds but at is firms up feels distinctly sporting. The Body is solid and no visible rust. There are daily driver scratches here and there but the paint is original with the original pin stripe. Wow!. The top is clean and this one is the canvas fabric version. (not the cheap vinyl). It has the plastic window but I have the glass window and will include it in the sale. The headliner is clean and wait.....this top is the automatic electric one. That means...you can relax in the car, push the shifter to park and hit a button. The top will to up and down with ease! The 105hp 22R-E fuel injected motor is a solid. It has made Toyota the Brand it is today. Cruising at 60mph from a stop in a leisurely 11.5-12 seconds. We like the Celica GTS models for their wider-than-stock stance courtesy of fender flares and very wide (for the day) tires on nice alloy wheels. Tires are fairly new and the engine runs solid. I just had a starter installed so it starts every time. It’s also great to find one of these in good condition that has the cruising automatic. Again, you’re not going to win top dog at the drag strip, but there are far worse ways to spend a Saturday in the rolling around town with the top down. You will not find a Classic Convertible for the Price with this condition!!!
