Vehicle Detail
1966 VW BEETLE FROM 45+ YEARS OWNER LOW RESERVE AUCTION !!!!!! This 1966 Beetle came from original owner who was an american professor from the Bay Area and bought it brand new at a Volkswagen Dealership in London, England back in 1966. After driving the car around Europe for about a year, he shipped home to California. There it has spent most of its life. The owner passed away some time ago and the car was purchased from his widow. What makes this car so special is that I have a ton of documentation spanning its entire life, including original owners manual, maintenance booklet, VW binder and years worth of receipts. It was maintained very meticulously, some of the receipts are from when the car was in Europe in 66-67 from England, some in Greek and even one in Italian for a flat tire repair. All the maintenance made in the US at different VW Dealerships at the Bay Area from 1967 to 1995 is included. How many cars do you find with that? With all of that said, the car has fell into disrepair the last few years, and sat unused for a while. The car passed to the second owner a few years ago and was used briefly until the engine spun a bearing. The motor was taken out and partially disassembled and never been rebuilt, so here we are; the car is mostly together and not been really messed since new. It looks to have had one respray on the outside only, the glass is all nice, trim is ok and mostly original. The body is in generally good shape, aprons are nice, floors free of rust and battery area with only surface rust and nothing serious to worry about. The interior is completely original and drivers seat is in poor shape on the lower part but other seats are nice. Original door panels are in good shape, dash is clean and nice and original rubber floor mat is there and nice. Previous owner did brakes and drums and install brand new tires. Car is still 6 volts. So here are the negatives: Rear drivers fender has been hit, next drivers seat as I mentioned, headliner has a big tear towards the front but it is original. The running boards are rusty and will need replacing. Passenger door has a spot of rust in the lowercenter that needs repair. Original matching numbers 1300cc engine is out of the car and partially disassembled. Original bumpers are there but the rear one not in the best shape. Last month while pulling the car behind my van the rear drivers side tire came off due to a loose nut holding the drum and the axle was damaged and the drum and tire are lost. I move the car around with a little cart. 1966 beetles are considered one of the best years of the beetle and a one year only features includingthe 1300cc engine. This car just needs a little love and install en engine to drive as is or restore to bring it back to its former glory. Clean California title under my name and registration is in non operation so no back fees due!!!!!! Original Black California plates front and back. PAYMENT: Deposit of $500 via Paypal within 24 hours of the auction ends. Remaining balance in cash in person. SHIPPING: Buyer is fully responsible to pick up the car in person or hire a transportation company or a tow. All shipping expenses to be paid by buyer. Please note due to a bad axle and no tire the car needs special handling to move it around. If needed I can store the car up to a month after auction ends for no charge. INSPECTIONS: You can arrange for a personal inspection before the ending of the auction, please do not bid to win and do an inspection after. Any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. GOOD LUCK BIDDING On Mar-29-15 at 11:43:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello to all bidders!!!!!! Many people are asking about the reserve price, of course it is not fair to other prospective buyers to disclose the reserve price. Within one day to finish this auction all I can say to EVERYBODY is that the auction is getting close to the reserve so make your last effort to win this beetle. Thanks
