This BMW 600 was imported new into Canada in 1958 by Western IS. There were no BMW dealers in Canada at this time.I am third owner, car was in storage from 1967 t0 2008. After storage the following was performed.- Engine out service and carb rebuilt- New Battery- Transaxle rebuilt- Rubber drive cv joints replaced- Rebuilt brakes including shoes, wheel cylinders, and master cylinder and rubber lines.- Exterior rubber bits replaced- Bumpers and emblems re chromed- Fabric of seats replaced with N.O.S. fabric rest of interior is original- Wheels bead blasted and painted factory correct colour, new radials installed. Spare is original with original bias ply tire.- Front end rebuilt including shocks and all new rubber bushings.- Gas tank removed tested, cleaned and sealed.- Engine tin stripped and repainted.- New front windshield all other glass is original- N.O.S speedometer- Has original wheel jack This is probably one of the last original paint european bumper BMW 600's. The car is taken to car meets, and drives shifts brakes very well. The floor has been reinforced, see pictures. Unique to this car are the European bumpers most delivered to North America had large head lights and large front bumpers. They made nearly 200,000 Isetta's but only 35,000 BMW 600's. Making this a very rare BMW micro car. Most of the survivors are over restored or basket cases. This was BMW's last full frame car and there first use of semi trailing arm rear suspension.This suspension design was used till the late 1990's. This car brings more smiles per gallon then any car I have driven, and attracts more attention then cars costing well into six figures.
