Up for sale is a rare mid-engine 1991 Toyota MR2, all factory original stock, Southern California car all its life (no rust), accident free. No modifications, original factory paint, all original panels. Always garage stored during the day, and rarely out in the sun. The temperate climate and even temperature helps keep rubber and plastic materials from cracking and drying out. Very well taken care of; no racing or abusing, adult owned, non smokers. Well maintained Below is a very detailed description of the car from top to bottom. Vehicle Condition Engine -- Starts right up, idles super smooth. See pic of instrument panel. Engine is idling in this pic. You can see temperature needle perfect, charging needle perfect, and RPM idle perfect around 830. Sounds great, no funny noises. Acceleration is smooth and swift, no hesitation. No leaking fluids of any kind. No burning oil. Oil changes done regularly. While the car has 206,000 miles, the engine only has 99,000 miles. The engine was NOT a rebuild or anything. I do not believe in rebuilt engines; it must be all original. Another engine from an identical factory original 1991 MR2 was installed into this car 4 years ago. Same as the original engine. No modifications. The engine came from someone who wanted to upgrade his MR2 to a turbo engine. This was installed 4 years ago, lower mileage! The engine had 95,000 miles when installed and in like new condition. The engine sounds like new. Also, the timing belt was replaced as well, so you don't have to worry about that. Transmission -- Shifts smooth and fluid between all gears. Overdrive button and light works great. Low gears 2 and L work great as well. No issues, operates like new. Transmission fluid was changed at the recommended intervals. The last change was 2 years ago. Steering – Tight, no pulls, no vibrations, no shaking. The car drives straight as an arrow like new. Power steering works great. Suspension – Drives great, handles well. No noises, no clunks, like new. Brakes – Work perfectly. No shaking, no pulling, no noises. Like new. The brake master cylinder was replaced last year with OEM Toyota part, and all new brake fluid. The brake pads have over 50% left. Tires – All 4 tires excellent, and stock factory size. The rear tires are virtually brand new, with only 200 miles on them, and the front only 3,000 miles on them. Rims – Original Toyota rims. Two are excellent condition. The other two have some curb rash, but still good condition. Battery – Brand new battery installed in December. Exterior panels – No accidents. All panels have the original VIN Toyota stickers on them, proving the car is completely original, same as when it was brand new. Guaranteed! No dents or dings. Amazing! Very well taken care of and excellent condition for a 1991. I noticed in front of the right rear wheel well, on the side of the car at the very bottom where you can't really see, looks like curb hit it. The metal is bent, just in the corner. It's cosmetic, and can probably be bent back if it bothers you. It is hard to see unless you bend down the look for it. Sunroof -- The sunroof works great, and it comes with the hard to find original interior sunroof black fiberboard sunshade, a must have. It is mint as well. The sunroof does not leak, it is water tight. Headlights – Pop-up headlights work great like new. Exterior paint – This car has never been re-painted! It is super glossy and shiny, with the high quality original mirror shine factory Toyota paint. It has held up well because this car has been garage stored, and hardly out in the sun at all, which is what fades the finish. Also, I wax it at least twice a year, which keeps the finish mint. The rear and front bumpers are not quite as glossy as the metal panels, as that is fiberglass, and there is a slight fade in two small areas on the top roof area. All of these are minor flaws and barely noticeable.Windows - All original, no cracks, no spider veins, no chips.You may have noticed that I removed the front black license plate holder. I like the sleek clean look in the front without it. I still have it, it is mint, and included. I can put it back on for you (2 screws, screws right in). Note: You will see some water drops here and there on the exterior car pics; it just had not fully dried after washing. Interior The interior is in mint condition as you can see, very well taken care of, adult owned, never abused. Being out of the sun keeps everything very nice. Plus with the Toyota high quality build, fit and finish, it is just remarkable to sit in and enjoy. Power windows – Work great, no issues.Power locks - Works great. Remote locks and unlocks doors, as well as activates and deactivates the alarm. Alarm works great, no issues. Cruise control – Works great, no issues. Courtesy lights – Work great, no issues. Tilt Wheel – Works great, no issues. Instrument Panel – All lights illuminate like newSteering Wheel and Airbag - All perfect. Air bag light works great, comes on when you start the engine, then goes off in a few seconds. Last year I had everything checked, as they recommend checking the air bag function every 10 years or so. All is functioning like new. Tachometer – Works great. Speedometer – Works great Other gauges and lights – all work great.4 way hazard/flashers - works great Power Mirrors – Do not work, but mirror can be adjusted manually.Windshield Wipers - Work greatTrunk release - works greatGas cap cover release - works great Stereo – Factory original, Toyota 6 speaker system. The cassette and radio work great, all 6 speakers sound great, and all lights and buttons work great. Glove box – Works great, like new. Floor mats – Comes with original OEM Toyota passenger floor mats – excellent condition!Carpet and upholstery in car and trunk - mint like new.Cigarette lighter/charger - works great Driver Seat – Excellent condition, rare for a driver seat! No major wear in the bolster, due to taking extra care when getting in and out of the car. There are two tiny quarter inch holes in the fabric in the front left bottom section, hardly noticeable. Passenger seat – Excellent, like new, rarely sat in. Air conditioning – Ice cold air conditioning works great, no issues. Heater - The heater works great, and the fan/blower works great. All of the climate control functions and lights work perfectly.Vents and vent controls - work great like new Trunk - The car comes with original Toyota donut spare tire, something that usually gets lost or replaced with an aftermarket full size spare over time. The spare is in excellent condition. Also includes original Toyota tool bag with Toyota logo on it, as well as the original jack and tire wrench!! This car will run to 350,000+ miles easy if taken care of with maintenance like oil changes and fluid changes. The engine only has about 99,000 on it! Smog – This car passes stringent CA emissions test every time with flying colors, and runs super clean. I have saved the printouts for the smog tests, so you can see how low the readings are on this car.
