For sale is my 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit Custom L Diesel. This vehicle has only 83,174 ORIGINAL MILES with a body that is in overall great condition. I purchased the vehicle about 18 months ago with the hope that I might be able to convert it to biodiesel or electric. However I find myself too busy to finish the project and could use the cash to further my education. The car was originally titled in New Jersey with its original owner until 2005, when it was inherited by a member of the owner's family. The car was then titled in the State of Wisconsin with 59,000 miles. I purchased it in August of 2013 with the intention of putting a little work into it, but find myself without the time to commit to this beautiful little vehicle. This vehicle was my daily driver until December when it began to have issues starting. I have replaced the battery and the negative battery lead, checked the alternator (fine) and don't hear anything coming from the starter. I believe there is some kind of parasitic battery draw or a short somewhere in the electrical system that is draining the battery. I am a student, so I do not have the time or money to throw into this project any longer. I would love to see this car go to a collector who can give it a little work and a little money to see it relive its glory. There isn't a lot of work that needs to be done to the vehicle to bring it into pristine condition, but a few smaller projects.
