Vehicle Detail
1979 Suzuki GS1000S (SN) I have owned this bike since 1998. I bought it from the original owner in Houston who had left it unridden in his garage for about 15 years. After going through the carbs I got it running well and rode it regularly until 2011. I got a newer bike and left this in the garage on a trickle charger, running the engine every 2 weeks but not riding it much. The Good: all original except the gas tank, pipes, and chain and sprockets. The original tank had stage 5 rust cancer so I finally had to buy a NOS tank and have it painted to match. It’s in excellent condition. The original pipes had a few dings so I got some pipes from a 1000G of the same vintage. They are in good shape but the headers need to be cleaned up. When the original 630 chain had finally reached its limit I switched to a 530 chain/sprockets. I still have the original front/rear sprockets. Back tire is almost new, front still has good tread. Brand new battery. All gauges work. Engine/transmission run fine and have never been apart except for valve shim adjustment. Factory service manual and Haynes manual included. Currently licensed/insured. The Bad: slight oil drips from valve cover and tach cable; crack in front fender; left hand side cover has small crack; small crack in clear plastic over oil temp gauge; small drip from carb #4; left hand turn signal not working (right does); missing right hand mirror (I have the plastic bezel for it); fork seals are shot after sitting too long; 3 small rips in seat (these were there when I bought the bike and have not enlarged); turn signal plastic chrome is peeling; some road rash on left side of fairing (see picture) this was the original owners doing. The bike has never been down under my ownership; the engine and carbs have surface oxidation and need a good soda blast to look good. Overall needs a good detailing.Shipping not included but i can ride the bike to the shipper of your choice in the Tampa area.On Jan-13-15 at 06:47:17 PST, seller added the following information: The Good: all original except the gas tank, pipes, and chain and sprockets.
