Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1991 Honda CRX HF. A couple months ago I hit a deer while driving it on my way to work. I had comprehensive coverage on the car and decided to buy it back from my insurance company with the intention of fixing it. I have since lost interest so now it’s up for sale. The title to the car is currently in a salvaged state because it was a buy back, no way around that. I’ll try to be as complete in my description as I can so you fully understand everything about the car. I bought the car around a year and a half ago with 146,000 miles on it (give or take a little) and have since done a lot of work to it. I replaced the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump, front crank shaft oil seal, cam shaft oil seal, oil pan gasket, and valve cover gasket. After that I replaced the clutch. I replaced all the associated components including a new flywheel, new throwout bearing, new pilot bearing, new clutch disc and pressure plate. I also replaced the rear main oil seal while the transmission was out. Every oil seal on the motor has been replaced besides the distributer oil seal. I decided while I had the transmission out to go ahead and replace the main shaft bearings even though they weren’t making noise. So I did that as well, both inner and outer main shaft bearings and all the oil seals on the transmission were replaced too. Although one of the transaxle seals is leaking a bit, sometimes they just don’t seat right I guess. I also replaced one axle and the pervious owner replaced the other within a few months of me buying the car so both axles are pretty new and in good shape. I replaced the brakes all the way around, new pads and discs up front, new shoes and drums in the back. But for some reason the rear brakes make a clicking sound when coming to a stop, not sure why that is, I properly cleaned and adjusted them. I inspected them and didn’t see any obvious problem. I also replaced the master cylinder as it was leaking. The trailing arm bushing were pretty worn so I replaced them as well. I replaced the fuel pump as a precaution because I was intending to take this car on a long road trip over the summer. The front tires still have some life left on them and the rears are almost new, I’d guess 80% or more tread left. The hatch shocks are pretty new, I replaced them within the last year. Overall the car is in good mechanical condition. It runs fine, doesn’t smoke, transmission is smooth, no grinding. Within the last 6 months it has developed an intermittent hesitation/miss upon acceleration. I haven’t looked into it because it doesn’t do it all the time and it did it only while getting up to speed, not while cruising. I’m assuming it’s a spark plug wire or something along those lines. The only other thing I can think of is in the dead of winter when it’s very very cold, 20 or below, the car mildly does the surging idle thing from time to time. But it never does that other than when it’s extremely cold out. It gets great fuel MPG, It was averaging 42-45 MPG driving mixed, city/highway. But when I really tried I could get 50-51 MPG. The interior is in good condition and is complete, nothing missing that I can think of. The climate control has some small cracks but I removed it and epoxied it so it’s not going to get worse. It works fine and the knob rotates from cold to hot very smoothly. The heat works great but the car has no factory AC. The CD player is pretty new and works and there are four new speakers in the car too, even has factory rear speaker mounts that I installed. I haven’t noticed any water leaks other than the front passenger side, somewhere around the glovebox it’s dripping in when it rains, I think it might be the windshield seal, not sure though. When I bought the car it already had minor front end damage that I was working on fixing. It wasn’t bad but enough to need a new hood, bumper, and bulkhead. I got as far as replacing the entire front bulkhead with a genuine factory replacement from honda, have the receipt if you want it. All it needed was a new hood and bumper, until I encountered a suicidal deer that is. Now the front end is a different story as you can tell. I found an imperfect fender and a headlight assembly and installed them. The bulkhead is certainly tweaked to some degree from the impact because although very close, the fender doesn’t fit up to the headlight assembly perfectly. The bumper seems to be pushed back a little too, causing fitment issues. I can’t see how the frame would have been damaged judging by how everything looks but I’m far from an expert. The deer also made its way down the drivers side of the car messing up the door and damaging the front of the rear quarter panel. As far as rust goes the car has very little. The rear quarters have a little in the usual starting points. The rear bumper support was rotted out but I replaced it with one I found at a junkyard. Very little rust on it and I painted the hell out of it so it’s well protected now. While the bumper was off I inspected the back of the car and it only had one or two small rust spots, one was right where the bumper support bolted on. I scraped and painted over those spots with that rust stopper stuff. I’m starting this auction at $400 with no reserve. If you get the car for that price I’m happy for you but please be serious about your bid. I only want to list this once and be done with it. If you have zero or negative feedback I require you to contact me and officially declare your intention to bid in an email before doing so. This is a local pickup only, I will not ship or work with shipping companies, sorry but I don’t have time for that kind of thing. You may contact me and come see the car before bidding, I have no problem with that, just send me a message and we can arrange a time. My zip code is 19606 so you can get an idea of how far away I am. The car is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Thanks for looking and have a great day! The car has relatively low miles with plenty of life left in the power train, could be a total steal for a person willing to fix it up. ***There may be things I have not thought to mention so please ask any questions you may have and look over the pictures. For example, one thing I just remembered is the blower motor only works on numbers 2-3-4, number 1 doesn't work, I'm guessing the resistor is the problem, cheap easy fix. *** On Dec-27-14 at 18:45:52 PST, seller added the following information: AS I ALREADY STATED, PLEASE RESPECT MY WISHES AND CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING IF YOU HAVE NEGATIVE OR NO FEEDBACK. I SEE TWO PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY BID ON THE CAR WHO HAVE NO FEEDBACK AND NEITHER CONTACTED ME BEFORE DOING SO. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL YOUR BID AND BLOCK FURTHER BIDDING FROM YOU IN SUCH A CASE. IT'S SIMPLE, IF YOU HAVE NO FEEDBACK CONTACT ME FIRST LETTING ME KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO BID. THANKSOn Jan-01-15 at 09:14:43 PST, seller added the following information: I must add that the buyer and myself must go together to a local auto tags location and you must transfer the title into your name immediately. I cannot let anyone take the car until they have legally transferred the title into their name. If this is not possible for you then you please do not bid on the car. Thank you for your cooperation.
