Relisting for the last time. No bids on the previous listing. I'm selling the car but not giving it away so I'm not taking anything less than the final asking price. Thank you to all who have asked about buying the car directly. I've had several offers at 5K. If it doesn't sell I'll keep the car, I've had it for 40 years keeping it a few more is not a problem. Thanks, Kevin. Dec. 15. Added pictures of the floor well. There is rust through in a couple of spots on the drivers side as seen in the picture. Back area is also in picture. Pulled carpet up last week to see how the floor well was. December 12, 2014: I have re-listed my car due to the previous winning high bidder not being able to come up with the bid amount. No Reserve. I have a couple more pictures I'll add on Sunday the 14th. I'm trying to contact the second owner of the car now, a friend of mine, so we can have input from everyone who has owned this car. 1967 Mustang . No engine or transmission. Third owner, car was driven on the street for only 3 years. I raced it in the 1970s at Detroit and Motor City dragways as the Professor. Full roll cage, frame and body structurally sound. All glass intact, doors, windows work. Has rust as can be seen in the pictures. Worst rust is only on the trunk deck as seen in picture. To answer a few recent questions: Car had a 289, 4 speed trans; dash is original; the wheel wells have not be cut out; there is no back seat, roll cage remember; car ran high 10s, low 11s with a 302 Dynamic Performance engine by Gary and Joe Liberty trans in the 70s; no I do not have those any more. I have had the car for 40 years, it's been in outside storage for the past 4 years. I'm not desperate to sell it but I am selling it. My dad bought the car for me in the 70s. The title was in his name and he died in 96. I have not seen the title since 3 houses ago. Should have clear title in two weeks, have to have the car appraised per Mich. Sec. of State. From what I can tell the substructure and engine compartment is in good shape. Except for the trunk deck the other rust is surface and not rusted through. I am requesting that whoever buys the car will keep me informed as to what you do with it in your restoration, pictures and email. I love this car and it has many wonderful memories for me. So I would like to know how it ends up. On Nov-23-14 at 15:57:58 PST, seller added the following information: Update: Added new photos 11/23 On Nov-26-14 at 10:46:18 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE 11/26 The beauty of the internet and social media. I just got off the phone with the original owner of the car who still lives nearby me. He sold it to my friend who only raced it, who sold it to my dad. Really fun getting the history of the car prior to when we got it. Here's what I can share now: The car was bought at Russ Milne Ford. It had a C4 transmission, 289 2bar and was converted to a 4 speed. The original owner did drive it on the street but also raced it for two years with a 289 Hi-po, with a 4 speed, 5.86 gear, car ran 12.71 @ 107 mph. at that time that was on the national record. The car was Blue from the factory. Had a 69 Corba Jet read end put in, that's what's still in it I believe. The Tach is from a GT 350, that he put in along with the steering wheel and gas cap for the GT. Car had the deluxe interior. Did not have a consul and did not have disk brakes. The original owner owned the car for 3 years. I'm very excited to connect with the original owner, we both have fond memory's of the car. Looking forward to meeting him this weekend. Between the two of us I can now answer pretty much any question about the car and its history. It's been fun learning the full lineage of the car. On Nov-26-14 at 10:56:11 PST, seller added the following information: Forgot to add: The original owner has seen the car and spent 30 or so minutes just looking at it. We both think the car can be put back into pristine condition. Whoever buys the car I would like to connect with the original owner also, so we can both follow the progress of it's new birth. It would be fun for both of us. Thanks. Dec. 15th. Questions that were asked before: Q: this would be a great build just the history is sweet would be nice to have pics of what it looked like I would want to put back the way it was thanks COOL STANG FORD SWAP COLUMBUS OHIO this weekend Nov-28-14 A: Thanks, I think it's pretty cool to have a complete history and lineage of the car. Yes between us there are photos and newspaper articles about the car. Thanks. Q: Did you ever Find out if Door Tag Matches the Vin on the Fender apron ? door Tag says its a 289 Auto & your claiming its a 4Spd Car. can you please confirm that Before I Bid Thank You Nov-26-14 A: The door tag and fender are the same. I'll take a picture of it on Friday and post. As I've said when I got the car it had a manual trans, the person we got it from raced it with a manual trans. In the photos you can see the clutch pedal and clutch linkage. Not sure what else I can tell you. I'll try and get in touch with the person we bought the car from and get more info before Friday. Thanks Q: Do you have any pictures of it when it was raced. I would be interested to restore it to its racecar status with pics and documentation. Do you have any time slips or trophies from its racing history. Wish i still had some of my old racecars. Nov-23-14 A: Thanks for asking. I may have some awards and time slips. Might even have a couple of trophies left I gave most of them away back then. I do have a newspaper article that I have when I won Outstanding Drag Racer and Sportsman of the Year from Motor City dragway back in 1976. Yes I know what you mean. I used to have a 76 280Z Datsun, 72 Cuda, first car I raced, and a Renault Fugeo Turbo. Wish I had all of them back. Q: is the speedo 120 or 140? thank you Nov-23-14 A: It's 120. you can see it from the new photos I posted, thanks. Q: I'm in Australia and have bought numerous cars from the USA. Would you sell to an international buyer? I don't need any help with shipping. Thanks Nov-23-14 A: I would consider it but the necessary due diligence would have to be in place. Thanks. Q: I was wondering if you had a price in mind for the 67 mustang? Thanks, Rich Nov-23-14 A: No I don't. I looked at the completed listings for similar and I have no idea. What I know is, this is a good car, never in any accident since I've owned, never driven on the street since I've owned it, stored inside except for the past 3/4 years, like I said it's a good car. Posted new photos today. Q: where did the cobra stuff on dash ,this can not be a cobra but was it a hypo Nov-23-14 A: No it's not a cobra, it was like that when I got it. I don't believe it was a hypo from the factory. Q: in the pictures it looks like a rust hole just below the rear glass is this a hole or my bad eyesight Nov-20-14 A: Yes that's correct. Your eyesight is fine. It's what I referred to as the trunk deck. Thanks. Q: Apparently, you did not sell the car to anyone on Cregslist! What happened? Are you trying to get more $$$? Nov-20-14 A: Yes, you are correct. I'm trying to get the best price I can for me and my family and a good home for the car. I decided I would open the opportunity to more people. I would think that most people would do that, wouldn't you? Thanks for your question. Q: Boy this car is pretty rusty. Can you post pictures of the underside, How bad is the frame rails,Torque boxes & Cowl.Thank you Nov-20-14 A: Yes it has rust but if you look closely you'll see it's mostly surface rust and not rusted through, except on the trunk deck. The car had been stored inside except for the past 3 years. I'll post some additional pictures of the underneath, under the hood and more interior pictures over the weekend. Thanks for your question Q: Hello Does this car have a clutch pedal and what is the rear axle? thanks -chas Redford MI Nov-20-14 A: Yes it does have a clutch pedal. I raced it with a Joe Liberty 4 speed trans. I can't remember on the axle, it was either a 455 or a 510. One of those is right. Hope this helps.
