If your budget permits, and would really enjoy owning a limited edition Brabus Smart diesel (only 50 ever produced), one is for sale in Sedona, AZ. Item # is 301405204402 Proudly listing a '05 Smart diesel coupe in very nice condition. Standard options including traction control, block heater, keyless entry, electric windows, and power locks. Optional accessories include air conditioning, leather wrapped steering wheel, panoramic glass top, tach/clock combination dials , paddle shifters on steering column (very rare on the 450's), and premium wheels. Cruise controls were never installed on Smarts here in the US until 2012 but I will install a European one for an extra $250. And another option, for $275 I can have the car remapped for better hp/torque by Smart car expert Glenn Kolano. Cosmetically outside the car is in fantastic condition and represents well the age/mileage of the car. Inside, there are just two items to mention. First, unusual the lime green interior it is, unfortunately it is very very difficult to keep clean. Pics were taken without any cleaning done but would recommend a steam treatment to the seats for the new owner. Only other issue is the dash. The yellow color has bleached out from the sun and is becoming nearly a yellow/white. I have found this to be the case with about all the yellow interior Smarts and there are instructions online to dye the color back to the original. Mechanically, everything works on this car. There are no check engine lights illuminated on this car. Does not leak any fluids whatsoever. This car is definitely more then capable of doing a cross country trip. A Carfax, available upon request, reveals no mileage is consistent with what is on the odometer. Finally, I do drive the vehicle somewhat, so mileage may increase slightly during the auction. There are just a few things that make Smart cdi's unique and one of only about 120 or so here in the United States. It is powered by a Mercedes engineered turbo diesel that is well known for lasting hundreds of thousands of miles. This euro-spec version has been in production since 1998 and has been proven dependable. I can easily achieve 50 to 60 mpg and hits speeds of 75+ comfortably on the freeways. The transmission is a Tiptronic (no clutch manual or sometimes called "slap stick"). This model also has the selector switch for the fully automatic transmission feature. And finally, unlike the 2nd generation US models, it also has 6 speeds instead of the 5. Many questions always come up regarding servicing the car. An online manual is available from the website "Evilution". Ebay does not permit me to place the link in, but just Google it. There you will find a wonderful resource with helpful descriptions and pictures to help in performing repairs and maintenance. As for mechanics to do maintenance on the car; I always recommend contacting an independent mechanic specializing in European cars. Sometimes they employ mechanics fresh "off the boat" from Eastern Europe that have knowledge of these cars over there. I have a clear Ohio title and will pass it on to the buyer. Despite being a gray market car, that is a car not intended for the US market, it should easily transfer to all States except California. Yes, the cleanest, most economical gas/diesel car in the world will not pass the California emissions testing. Go figure!
