Vehicle Detail

’65 Pontiac 2+2 Convertible This is a Texas car that I have had sitting around for many years. There were many other cars ahead of it and I just never got around to doing anything with it. These days I just don’t have it in me health wise to restore it. It has always run great, though it really does need to be driven. It is still a nice driving car, though it has only had around 20 miles driven in the last seven or eight years. It needs a cosmetic restoration, but can be made a driver and enjoyed just as it sits now. It is an original 2+2 and I do have the PHS documentation that goes with the car.I do have PHS Documentation for this car.Equipment-421 C.I. Motor YH Code original equipment. No longer with the car and was removed before my purchase.(It now has a very solid XH Code 1968 350 HP 400 C.I. Motor) It has no leaks, makes no adverse noises. Excellent! I have a friend in this area who has a ’65 421 available for the car if you desire. It came from a ’65 2+2 Convertible. I can put the buyer in touch with him.-Turbo 400 Transmission. It does appear to be original to the car.-Factory Air Conditioning (May work if serviced, never tried it).-Power Steering-Power Brakes-8 Lug Wheels-Am Radio-Dual Exhaust-Four Barrel CarburetorConditionMechanicalMotor As stated the motor is from a ’68 Full Size car. As I recall, years ago, I found it to be from a Bonneville. It is a 400 C.I. 350 Horse. The code deciphered below. The block code is visible in the photos.XHB-body68400350Turbo 400L-67 1x49790071 Block Number 97900712 There is nothing wrong with the motor. It is in great shape with no leaks, smoke or noises. I recall that the man I purchased the car from told me that the motor had been rebuilt. It would not surprise me at all, but cannot claim or verify that for you. Very Solid Motor! The temp light burns dimly, but it likely just needs a sending unit. It does not run hot.TransmissionExcellent!Rear EndNo noises, solid!BrakesThe brakes stop the car ok. In moving the car around over the last year or so, I have noticed them getting closer to the floor. I see no leaks and suspect the master cylinder or maybe just need adjusting and driven. This car really needs to be driven.SuspensionThe suspension seems to be solid, but it does need an alignment. I had It looked at about 5 years ago and was told that the ball joints and other parts were in good shape.Paint-Code R Montero RedThe paint looks nice overall. There are some chips and here and there and some small crazed spots around the edges of the trunk lid. It does have a nice shine however and really causes the car to present well for a nice driver.BodyThe car has been not been out in the weather during my time with it and with the previous owner also.I believe the body to be solid overall, though there is filler in the lower quarter panels and some also in the rockers. The only rust I see it a small bubble on the far right front corner of the hood. There is also a little on the inner door edges that will be an easy repair. I think that is from sitting for years with the doors closed. I believe the body to be solid overall and know of nothing major in the years I have had the car. There are no dents. The drivers door needs some adjusting, but there is no slack or worn hinges. Interior –Code 216-25The interior is quite nice overall. The dash and steering wheel are cracked, but the carpet, seats, door and side panels are all nice.Top-Code 1 WhiteThe convertible top is very nice. There should be no issues here. However, it has recently quit working and has to be moved manually. We have it disconnected from the pistons. The last time I put it down was approximately two years ago and it worked fine then. We checked for power. It has it going in to the motor, so there is the issue.Floor & Trunk PansThe floors pans are there, though patched in the centers. I have stood up on them and they hold me. Some of the original trunk floor is still intact and has had a metal floor welded in over top. It actually doesn't look bad. The fuel tank is dented and I would replace it, but it functions just fine.FrameThe frame is rust free and solid! Chrome & Bright workThe bumpers will need some attention as expected. Otherwise, the stainless pieces are in pretty good shape. The tail panel is nicer than average and could be restored. If you know these cars, this is unusual. The grilles are nice for their age also.GlassThe glass is in great shape with the exception of a cracked windshield.SummaryThis is a car that can be road worthy with fair ease.It is a car that can either be a good looking driver just as is or your can make it a restoration project, the choice is yours. It is a very pretty car that runs good, but I am selling it as a (project car for restoration and as is).I have done all possible to describe this 2+2 honestly as possible.
