Vehicle Detail

1978 Mercury Zeypher Z7. This car has 18047.5 actual miles. I can make a very strong case for this being the real mileage with documents from the original owner etc. You can be confident this is the correct miles. I do have the owners manual. This is a non smoker vehicle. The story with the car is that it was won by a woman in New Jersey in a church raffle. This woman never had a license so the car sat in her garage except when a family member needed a temporary way to go. They collectively added 11,000 miles to it. I bought it from one of the relatives after the original owner passed away. This car has served my wife and I very well over the years and we affectionately referred to it as "Grandpa". I can not say why, but the name stuck. I am selling Grandpa because I have 2 other Mustangs and I need to downsize. Most of the miles I put on Grandpa were highway miles, we drove all over the Smokey Mountains and the state of Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama etc with not so much as a hiccup. We will surly miss Grandpa but it is time for someone else to enjoy him as much as we did. I have some records from the previous owner that helps to document the mileage. Mercury Zeypher was a up scale / luxury version of the Ford Fairmont and the Z7 was the sporty model. It featured automatic with the shifter on the floor and bucket seats. The head lights and tail lights were different as well as the front fender had 2 fins on each side. These things along with the faux wood trim on the dash and the rear side windows certainly gave this car a touch of class. This car shares most of its mechanical parts with the Mustang. It is commonly referred to as a "Fox Body". Although the fenders and doors etc are not the same as the Mustang, the inner structure is the same. Because of this, mechanical Parts are extremely in expensive and easy to get This car is in great shape and is ready be driven anywhere. It does show some wear and tear but nothing major. It starts and runs great. It has a carburetor automatic choke so it has to warm up for a couple of minutes especially on cold mornings. The heat and air conditioning work well as do the power steering and power brakes. It has manual windows and am/fm 8 track player. The 8 track works but the sound is not great. I think it has more to do with the 8 track tapes I have tried but either way, it does not sound good to me. The tires are like new. This car drives like a 1978 new car would have driven. The doors open and shut easily and the spare tire is the original tire and does not appear to have ever been used. There are no rusted panels or any holes in the floorboards. There is some slight surface rust under the car (see pictures) but then again, it is 36 years old. The only place on the body that is slightly bent is on the right door above the molding. (please note pictures of door). I appears that at one time, something gently rubbed the side and put a small crease there. I hesitate to call it a dent but it is a defect. I do not see evidence anywhere that this car was ever wrecked and repaired. This car would be great for someone who wants a classic car but does not want the expense or headaches of doing mechanical repairs. The defects on Grandpa are cosmetic and personally, I like it that way, it has character. This is a solid car! I live in N.E. Georgia and can deliver Grandpa on a trailer within reasonable distance for a fee. Again you can feel confident to pick up and drive the car to your home. I will be happy to answer any questions and send additional photos
