Vehicle Detail

1977 Malibu Classic Silver with Firethorn Red Interior 46,500 original miles. Power Steering, Power Brakes, Air Conditioning. Little old lady car, originally from southern Indiana. Documentation, including; Window sticker, Sales forms, Warranty form, Owners manual, Sales Brochure, etc. It's very clean, original, and well maintained. It's in very good running and driving condition. I drive it regularly in the summer. My son and I often take it to local cruise ins. It has its original 5.0L 305 V8, and Turbo350 Automatic, as well as the original 8.5" ten bolt rear end with 2.56 gears. Originally rated for 15 mpg city, and 21 mpg on the hwy. AC has been converted to 134a, and blows cold. Brand New BFG Radial TA tires, on Corvette rally wheels. Starts right up, rides and drives great, as it should with only 46,500 miles. The original valve covers were leaking, so I replaced them with a set of brand new Corvette LT1 valve covers. The only thing I can see it will probably need soon is a new exhaust system. It currently has the original style single exhaust with catalytic converter. I would replace it with true dual exhaust. Body is very clean, It was repainted once twenty years ago by original owner. Paint still looks good, has a few chips and scratches. Passenger door has a shallow-gradual dent-crease. Original oxide red primer is visible in trunk and under hood. Frame and Floors are very clean, not rusty. Many of these 73 to 77 Chevelles and Malibus have very drab colors. Bright Silver with Firethorn Red is a very desireable color combination. Interior is very nice and original, dash, seats, carpeting, etc. Some of the hard plastic panels were faded, so I repainted them. I was going to turn this Malibu into a Laguna S3 clone, But my wife needs a new car, which makes it expendable. History: One Family Car for 3 decades. It was Built new in July of 1977, And delivered to dealer; Jim Buckner Motors Inc. 1001 State St. PO 608 Lawrenceville, IL 62439 It was Sold new on August 6, 1977. To first owner: Dorothy L Sievers Of Vincennes Indiana My understanding is that she owned it for over 30 years, and when she died it went to her family. They later sold it to Brian Niese, and I purchased it from him. Mechanical Condition: Engine runs great, starts right up, has good power. Original valve covers were leaking some oil, so I replaced them with a brand new set of Corvette LT1 Aluminum valve covers. Transmission shifts well. Rear end works well. Brakes work well. Battery is good Alternator is good Springs are good. Exhaust is Ok, tailpipe is getting rusty, could be replaced or converted to true duals. I had AC converted to 134a last summer, blows cold. Tires are brand new BFG Radial TA's, on Corvette Rally wheels. Interior Condition: Lights, and Signals all work properly Gauges all work (except clock) Wipers work. AM Radio works. (push buttons do not) Sport Steering wheel is in great shape. Door Panels are in excellent condition. Arm rest / Door pulls are great. Front seat is excellent. Rear Seat is excellent. Carpet is original and is very good. Headliner is good, one small spot near dome light. Dashboard is good, dash pad has the usual cracks. Body Condition: One repaint 20 years ago by original owner Paint still shines, but has some stone chips, scratches, touch ups, etc. Front bumper area is good, paint has some cracks on fill in trim pieces. Grille is in great condition. Emblems are in very good condition. Front Fenders are very clean, some paint chipping at bottom edge. Doors are clean, some chipping at bottom edge. Door Hinges are good, (do not sag) Weather strip needs to be replaced. Window Glass is in very good condition. Quarter Panels and wheel well lips look good. Rear bumper and Tail lights are in nice condition. Trunk lid is very nice. Trunk is very clean, with original mat. Brand new BFG Radial TA on Corvette Rally wheel for spare tire. Regarding showing / viewing the car; I am available to show the car, just contact me and we can arrange a day and time. I have more pictures available, just ask and I will send them to you. ------------------- Build Details VIN Number: 1 D37 U 7 K 607696 Built in July of 1977 VIN Info Breakdown: 1 Chevrolet D37 2 door (Malibu) U 5.0 L 305 2bbl - LG3 V8 7 1977 Model Year K Built at Kansas City Missouri Plant 607696 Six digit sequential serial number Body Tag Info Breakdown: 77 1977 model year 1 Chevrolet A "A" body (Malibu) D37 2 door (Malibu) K Kansas City Missouri plant 279602 (?) 71N Firethorn Red Vinyl A65 (?) 13L Silver Paint 13T Silver Top 07D18 0688 (?)
