For Sale: The Original Sanford and Sons 1951 Ford Pickup Truck Included in the sale of the truck will be all papers, letters identifying this as "the" Sanford & Son truck, California license plate and an autographed picture of Redd Foxx. Owner History After the television series ended the truck was purchased by Frank Miller of Santa Barbara, California. Then sometime in the 1980's William Mills purchased the truck, which later sold it to my Father-in-Law Don Dimmitt. Don was in the scrap business & obviously had a connection to Redd Foxx and the show & had to buy this piece of television history. Please see the pictures attached and also check out news articles on the web from the South Bend Tribune (7/26/06) so that you can verify authenticity. Condition & Specifics Truck is original as it was on the T.V. series except for the obvious items (battery, brakes etc). The back window is missing and was removed during production of the show. Truck bed will need to be restored.There is a pipe welded on the front bumper, which was there to display a flag.Various dents on the body can be seen on episodes of the show and aid authenticity.Truck was last driven in the Bremen, In. 4th of July parade in 2006. We will change the battery and gas and drive it one last time.6cyl. manual transmission, tires are fair, has original hub caps, odometer is stuck but miles are close. After over 25 years my Mother-in-Law has decided to sell several vehicles including this truck.
