Vehicle Detail
The truck is pretty solid and is complete. It would not take much to make it road worthy but if you want to make it a show truck, you will need to do some rust repair on the steps, drivers floor, front cab mounts, pass cab corner, and some other spots. The truck has a short but unique history. I am the 3rd owner and have had it since 1999. Owner #1 was the US Air Force from 1961 until 1969 and then Penn State University from '69 until '99. The truck is pretty much original and unmolested. You can still see the factory ink stamp paint codes on the firewall and under the hood. It's a 223-6, column 3 speed. The complete drive train is original to the truck. The truck is showing just over 5000 miles (matching the title) but I would think that it is actually 105,000 miles. It runs and drives and stops but I've had it in my barn for 14 years and it is not licensed or inspected. Please call me to ask any questions before bidding. I will gladly email you any additional picture of specific areas. Inspections are welcomed. The truck is for sale locally so the action could end at any time. 570-322-8919 or my cell 570-772-4368. On Oct-15-14 at 20:30:53 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had a number of people ask for underside pictures. I will add some when I can but I will need to delete some as Ebay only lets you post 24. And to answer some other questions: The frame is solid--even the back half and around the spring mounts. There is surface rust and a small amount of crust but nothing I see that will need any work besides blasting and painting. The original color was navy with the white top. I was told the white top signified an officer's vehicle. The truck was commissioned on Olmstead AFB, Harrisburg, PA in May of 1961. When the base was closed in 1969 part of it was sold to Penn State for their Capitol Campus. The sale included 'buildings and vehicles'.The bed is oak plank. I do not know if it is original. That is what I can see from underneath. The top side bed has a piece of 3/16 steel laid in it and is carriage bolted through the existing bed support brackets. The intake and exhaust manifolds no not appear to have any cracks or leaks. The motor and transmission casting dates are a day apart --- April 27th and April 28th, 1961. The rear is the original Spicer 44 posi unit.It has sheet metal patches on the step treads/risers on each side. There is a metal patch on the floor under the clutch. They are solid and functional but if you are doing a restoration you will be replacing them. The front cab supports are intact where they attach to the frame but the ends out by the rockers are gone. Assume they will need replaced if you are doing a restoration. Outer cab corners have pinholes. There are some rust holes out at the ends of the radiator support where the fenders attach and also down at the bottom under the headlights. It is cosmetic and does not affect support. On Oct-16-14 at 19:24:36 PDT, seller added the following information: I cannot load any more pictures on the Ebay ad. If you would like to see additional pictures please type s1112.photobucket.com in your address bar. That should take you to my Photobucket page. Click on 'Library' and then select the Ford F100 album on the left side of the page. I apologize in advance if there are duplicate pictures or they are mixed up. I hope they help. And I would appreciate if someone would let me know if it even works. I tried to take pictures of the "worst of the worst" so that there is no buyers remorse for those of you that can't come and check it out in person. On Oct-16-14 at 20:50:03 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry the complete address to view additional pictures is s1112.photobucket.com/user/Baldeaglemtnman/library
