Vehicle Detail
For your consideration is one 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Formula-S H-code (383) fastback. This car is an original H-code (383 engine) 4 speed car. It was one of 552 produced. When I bought the car about 11 years ago it had a non original 383 in it with a 4 speed. I rebuilt that engine to stock specifications and drove it for a while but wanted something more out of it. I contacted Dan Dvorak of Dvorak Machine Shop and had a G code 440 block prepped for a 496 stroker kit. The car now has a .040 over 440 that has been stroked to 496 cubic inches. The engine details are as follows: G-code 440 block bored .040 over 4340 steel crank 4340 steel H-beam rods Keith Black pistons 10.8-1 compression Mopar Performance 452 heads ported, polished, and bowl blended Edelbrock aluminum 6 pack intake port-matched 3 Holley 2300 carburetors Comp Cam 282/290 -520/540 solid camshaft/lifters Pro Comp roller rocker arms w/ Crane pushrods Aluminum high flow waterpump and housing Mopar Performance distributor MSD multispark capacitive discharge Nippodenso mini starter Nippodenso high output alternator TCI 2.5" chassis headers The car also has a Tremec TKO-600 5-speed manual transmission with a hydraulic Spec clutch and Lakewood blowproof bellhousing. The rear end is a 8.75" with a 742 case and clutch style sure-grip with a 3.91 gear. The rear springs have offset shackles and the frame has been tied. Other performance items include lightweight AAR Fiberglass fenders, hood, and header panel. The radiator is an aluminum 2 core from Mancini with a fan clutch and a high volume thermostat. The exhaust is 3" mandrel bent with two glass packs, a crossover pipe into turbo mufflers that exit over the axle and into chrome exhaust tips. The body of the car has had large patches in both rear quarter panels. It has small dings, dents, scratches and cracks in many places. The front left fender will probably need replacing as it was damaged and poorly repaired. The panels do not align correctly. I have another fiberglass fender from AAR that will go with the car. as well as an original steel flat hood. The bumpers were rechromed several years ago. The trim on the car is all very good but not great. The car will need body work and a paint job, it has been sitting outdoors nearly the entire time I've owned it. The car has its original Kelsey Hayes 4 piston disc brakes. The wheels are small bolt pattern (4") chrome rallye wheels, 15 x 8 with 275/60 Nitto drag radials and 15 x 6 with 195/70 radials. The interior has had new carpet, the seat covers, seat foams, door panels, and headliner were all replaced with Legendary Interior pieces. The carpet has faded. The back seat folds down and the floor has been insulated with Dynamat Extreme. The dash pads are nice with the exception of a bump in the area just in front of the driver where there was once a tachometer mounted. There's an in-dash 8Krpm tachometer and all of the gauges work. Dash bulbs are LED. Variable speed wipers and electric washer. Remote drivers mirror with passenger mirror. The car has a center console. The AM radio has been converted into a 4 x 45 watt am/fm with auxillary inputs There are 4 x 6 Infinity Kappa speakers in the kickpanels. The car has a light package that includes the ashtray, glovebox, maplight, trunk, and ignition switch. The headlights are halogen. I simply don't have the time or space for the car anymore. The car is sound and dependable as it is, but to make it a showpiece it will need work. With a little body work and a nice paint job, this car could be stunning again. I urge anybody that's interested in the car to come see it and ask questions. If you would like to talk to me, please e-mail me with your phone number and I will give you a call. I reserve the right to end this listing at any time as the car is for sale locally. Please note: Please see the photobucket link below for additional pictures of the car. Thank you. Here's a link to photos of the car: http://s887.photobucket.com/albums/ac76/Longgone440-6/1968%20Barracuda%20formula-s/ In addition to the description are these particulars. the car has KYB shocks front and rear, all of the front end has been rebuilt with new upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends, new pitman and idler arms, polygraphite upper control arm and strut rod bushings, rubber lower control arm bushings. The rear leaf springs have new poly bushings. The lower control arms are boxed. The tie rods are solid with jam nuts. The steering gear to column link is a Flaming River unit. The front brake rotors and inner and outer wheel bearings are new.The rear brakes are the original 10" drum brakes with new shoes and wheel cylinders. The floors and frame rails are all solid, there was a small hole (about quarter size) repaired in the drivers floor. The original bumper jack and tire iron are included. There is no spare tire but the hardware to retain it and cover are present.
