BENTLEY EIGHT This car is being relisted due to a previous auction winner that failed to read the listing before placing a bid. I kindly ask that any potential bidders kindly read through the description below. There is No Reserve on this auction, meaning that the highest bidder at the end wins, regardless of the final price! This is a 1987 Bentley Eight that has spent the past year in storage. Prior to being stored, this car was driven on a regular basis. The engine turns over easily; however, this car has not been started or driven since being put away and will need some things corrected for it to be in drivable condition. Items Requiring Attention The driver’s door is damaged including the driver’s window and rear driver’s side passenger window, which are broken. The veneer on the wooden window sill of the driver’s door and rear driver’s side passenger door is peeling. There is a dent immediately in front of the driver’s door where the door meets the front fender. The door was professionally removed and attached only for pictures. I have all of the interior trim pieces and all of the motors for the door, which are included with the car. I don’t believe that the door shell is damaged beyond repair; however, I can order a new door shell for an additional $475 + shipping as well as new glass for the driver’s window ($125 + shipping) and rear driver’s side passenger window ($125 + shipping).The car has been sitting for a year and will need a new battery and all of the fluids flushed.The transmission motor will need to be reconnected (this is a simple fix and it was detached to allow the car to be pushed while in storage).The key broke while in the ignition. The ignition works properly; however a new key will need to be ordered.The body could benefit from some cosmetic attention. There are areas that are dented, nicked and faded. Although the rear lights are pictured in the listing, they are not included with the sale. Now for the Positives . . . The brakes and suspension system have always been regularly serviced and were performing faultlessly before the car was stored. The car sits level and does not show signs of any problems.The engine was runs smoothly once started. The car did not burn any oil and there were no fluid leaks while the car was stowed.The transmission shifts smoothly throughout all gears.All of the gauges and lamps inside of the car are in working order.Other than a few tears confined to the cushion of the driver’s seat, all the leather on the passenger seat and rear seats is in very good condition, showing little wear, as is true of the leather on all of the arm rests, headrests and sun visors.The wood is in excellent overall condition. The entire dashboard, glove compartment, front and rear passenger window sills, rear passenger foldout tables and rear passenger mirrors are free of the typical cracking and peeling commonly seen on the wood of these cars. These pieces alone in this condition routinely fetch well-over $1,000.The headliner is in excellent condition, is very clean and free from any tears or sagging.All 4 original Bentley aluminum sport wheels including the spare are in excellent condition without any dents, gouges, or curb-rash. Original sets in this condition frequently demand over $2,000.All of the tires match and have plenty of tread remaining. In Summary This is a solid Bentley that will require some attention and TLC. It would easily make the perfect project for the at-home hobbyist. I unfortunately have too many cars and don’t have the time to restore this Eight to its former glory.
